Thoughts: After Carface was taken into hell by Red, the demon cat became tired of Carface's soul so, in the process he gave Carface's soul to Belladonna.

Since Carface already knew Charlie, Belladonna gave Carface new life so he could work for her in the real world and do her bidding.

I figure Red is just a small potatoes minion of the Devil. His little contract with Carface's soul wasn't worth peanuts without Red's boss's permission. The Great Satan was mad at Red for losing to Charlie and part of his punishment was losing Carface and having his terf in San Francisco handed over to a canine (Belladona).

Kind of depends on the context. At the time this aired, the context most kids would have thought of the word "sex" in was basically how we think of the word "gender" now. So it had to do with one's respective gender, rather than what you're thinking of, if that makes sense.
