WTF? I sure hope it doesn't look like that in serious scenes. Hajime no Ippo is a realistic manga, not a fairy tale. There is actually scientific basis behind his long reach, he doesn't extend his arms like in this animation.

@06pag youtube.com/watch?v=oPozj2TGGM­8 Try animating that without having the arms look like whips. Besides, to punch people with the flicker you need to use the power in your elbows. Try letting your arm lose and actually do a flicker. Youll see how your arm looks as if bending while doing the punch, and youll see that it will extend farther than a regular punch, since your shoulder is going to turn a complete 90 degrees. Its a pretty complicated punch overall :P

@noxus418 I can't do a flicker. That said, I saw some videos of people doing it, and the hand still looks like hand. It doesn't extend by two meters either. In manga, it's drawn pretty realistically, but animation is ridiculous.

@06pag I understand what youre saying. However what I meant was that it is a very difficult punch to animate because of its "flicking" motion. (Another punch thats ridiculous is the shotgun, I mean really...But no other way to animate it that I see)
