Wow...i love your daring personality. Herring, sushi, or leeks I could understand, but the rest? Tomato juice? Power Bars? Pastrami? Beef Jerky? That's some pretty basic cuisine!
I, however, still applaud your bravery. You may have already, but I hope you will try eel. The BBQ flavour, which is the type usually placed in sushi, is absolutely smokey delicious!
lol, not a fish person huh :p I rather see fish swim myself though. If you like to try something else in alcohol, try beerenburgh Cola (2/3 Coca Cola, 1/3 Sonnema Beerenburgh), problem is you most likely only will find the Beerenburgh in the Netherlands. All ingredients of that are actually natural herbs and made only in the Netherlands.
You are awsome, and so brave... Im usually a hater, but this. This was really cool and i enjoyed it! I mean like, that fish with pastrami on top! Haha, that was hilarious and so wierd. Sushi, not for me either :] Im such a coward and i need to do something like that as well. I'll give you some challanges later probably if i get the time, to do em! :] Your clip really motivated me. Keep it up, it was really fun!
lol yeah meat is discusting!!! who would want to eat it you would so be happy with eatting more raw food so please just consider it!!! and check it out.
lol i ment leaks i get confussed some times with kale and leaks i don't know why lol, all that stuff is o unhealthy check out the Raw Food try eatting that you might like it.
you probably shouldn't have mixed some of the food. i mean if you want a good challenge try them at the prime. anchovies are soooo strong but it's the secrect ingredient in orange chicken (yum!) so give things a second chance! you might like it
why mix the things you never had before? it was suppose to be an experiment wasnt it? if it was just about actually consuming weird things you might as well have thrown everything in a blender, throw alot of ketchup and sugar with it and (if you dont mind the taste of sweet tomatoketchup) you can basically eat anyhing you like... just too bad u biased ur first haring-experience... byebye joris
A trick for dog breath: Parsley. I always found that my dog, if his breath was sketchy, could have wonderfully fresh herbal breath if he had a sprig of parsley. Quite effective! (except for my younger dog who has too sensitive a stomach to tolerate almost anything except dog food... how absurd)
Dude, now I'm getting worried. Everyone keeps telling me that I mixed in a sinus-blowing amount of wasabi, but it tasted pretty ordinary to me (and I can't stand super-spicy food). I feel ripped off -- was my wasabi cut with toothpaste or something?
It must've been disappointing for everyone who noticed the hugeness of the blob when my head *didn't* explode after the first bite of sushi. =P
Yeah I was expecting a mushroom head cloud. But I'm glad you didn't hate it because it might have made sushi suck for you. And I bet your wasabi was weakened. It's ok. Congrats on not gagging.
I'm totally with you on the raw fish thing--I had sushi for the first time at a very expensive business dinner in Seattle, which is supposed to be one of the best places in the world for sushi. I almost puked on my boss.
Thanks for making me laugh. You are super cute with all your facial expressions. Props to you for sticking to the challenge. We'll meet up in New Orleans sometime for the crawfishes! Oh and my research adviser lives on powerbars and doesn't understand those of us that require food to survive. Sigh...
The faces you made as you ate the sushi were priceless. :-) You're a lot braver than me...I don't know if I could have eaten all those foods. (All of which I also have never eaten.)
You know, I love to drink but I don't believe I've ever had a bloody mary. I'll have to try that. And herring too, I like fish. I've already had the rest of that stuff and i like it all, except leeks. Leeks taste too much like collard greens for my taste.
Congratulations on increasing your cullinary palette! :) I really wasn't thinking anyone would match siener's presentation, but both you and podorator really did a wonderful job! I'm sorry the herring and sushi didn't work out for you, but at least now you can say you've tried them. It seems you had a 5/7 success rate! I think, perhaps, over time, you might consider looking at the rest of your list. ;)
Fresh grated wasabi can blast your frontal sinus. Ting ting jahe, yum, always have it with me. They tried wrapping it in plastic few jears ago, but it just got stickier, so they (duh!) stuck with the paper.
This has been the most entertaining video that I've seen on youtube in quite some time. I agree with lisasimpson - it really didn't feel like 12 minutes. Well done.
I was chewing apple flavoured gum when you had that vodka. Anyway, that herring looked nasty lol, you should try some of the better sushi like chicken, that rocks. And btw you scared the shit outta me when you put your head in front of the camera in the end. O.O
PS Not too much to my national vegatable eh? That's centuries of repression your eating right there. If you ever decided to have Leeks again wash them well and cut them into long lengths so they don't break up.
I'd feel repressed, too, if I had to eat these with every meal. I think the ultimate I-hate-my-life depressed peasants' meal would be leeks, porridge, and dirt.
I've heard leek soup isn't bad...might try that sometime.
lol @ when you ate the herring. Herring is like the fishiest fish evar! I had pickled herring at a Russian restaurant once. Twas good. I pretty much like everything, though. And yeah, you put WAY too much wasabi in there ;) You're brave.
You're a pussy when it comes to hot sauce? I wish I could have warned you about the Wasabi..you mixed in WAY too much. Fresh sushi is much better than pre-prepared.
Herring AND Pastrami? Yelgh!
Way to take on the challenge and yes, we can see up your nose.
I think it takes a bit of getting used to. These days, I tend not to mix it too thoroughly, so I can get a little surprise clump. :) But yeah, a lot of store-bought and cheap sushi places will have weakened wasabi.

My cat luurves herring. Though mind you, his breath always smells really bad so it doesn't make much of a difference. =)

Sushi has like a 2 hour shelf-life. Boxed sushi is DISGUSTING. Try fresh next time.

You are hilarious. Sushi is waaay better with much less wasabi. I cringed when you mixed in that whole green blob. :) Kudos for your true courage.

Great video! Loved the stop motion gathering of foods at the beginning especially. My question here is: which of the foods would you eat again?
E.g. I hated Sushi the first time I had it, but I love it now.
AericWinter 5 years ago
Thanks! I wish I had a real tripod, so I could've held the camera still.
I'd eat everything except the raw fish bits again. I didn't like the leeks in this dish, but they're not intrinsically gross.

Prepoceros, this vid is superbly delicious!

You mean other people eat this stuff? I can see why -- it's yummy!
The paper's okay to eat, right?
Prepoceros 5 years ago
Why of course, the paper's essential for a well-balanced diet: the fibers in it make up for not having your daily leeks and powerbar. Works for me.

The wasabi wasn't bad, actually. I've heard horror stories about it, but to me it just tasted like mustard.

Sounds like weak wasabi. It kicks my ass, and I'm a moderate-to-hot food tolerator.
howtofoldsoup 5 years ago
I think it takes a bit of getting used to. These days, I tend not to mix it too thoroughly, so I can get a little surprise clump. :) But yeah, a lot of store-bought and cheap sushi places will have weakened wasabi.
