Words cant describe how much I enjoyed watching this mini series. Could anyone recommend me a BBC series as good as this one? I heard of many, but I dont really have time to watch them all, so I would be glad if you could suggest me one. Thank you very much!

@Ferbbie I have just finished Downton Abbey Season 1. They are currently airing season 2 on Masterpiece Classic (PBS/BBC). It is a great series.

@Ferbbie I've loads at home but if you just want one recommended... EMMA Miniseries (from 2009 or 2010 I think) with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller - my favourite among all the Jane Austen Emma Films and the screenplay is also by Sandy Welch (who adapted the screenplay for North and South)

anyone who would like to buy this like me HMV always has it really cheap, like £3 or £4, and can also be bought in boxsets, I think BBC deserves huge credit for this which is why I will be buying it instead of watching it on netflix etc.

I just finished watching this wonderful serie. Magnificent in ALL senses. 10 out of 10....if you like Ana Karenina (the book) Doctor Shivago (the movie) etc etc... do not miss NORTH AND SOUTH !!!!!

Excellent work! Echoing other comments - would dearly love to know where you got the footage for the last scene?! Have seen similar, perhaps the same, including her saying goodbye to Higgins, but it is not on the Netflix version I've seen now quite a number of times. Is it on the dvd?

Great book BTW - have read it and now listening to it on audiobook while driving. Sigh!

Definitely worth watching. Hands-down one of my favourite period films (& I've watched more than I can count). You won't regret it! If you're looking for more to watch, I'd highly recommend Persuasion (2007), which rarely receives the acclaim it deserves; and Jane Eyre (2006) - Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson are superb. You should also check out Tess of the d'Urbervilles (2008) and The way we live now (2001). Watch Brightstar if only for its breath-takingly beautiful cinematography.

Wow this is an awesome video you made, I too am now even more eager to watch this but like most movies made from books, I have to read the book before I watch it, it's always more enjoyable. I love this movie so much. I watch it in 2006 when I was in Australia. It is a long beautiful movie. One of my favorite. I think I watched it more than twice. I was in tears every time I watched it. Great movie!

I stumbled on North and South one night when I was bored and looking for something to watch on Netflix. First time ever seeing Richard Armitage in anything...YOWZAH. He plays the perfect romantic character... just the right balance of manly savage and gentleman. Is there anything that can possibly top this for romantic hero goodness? *sigh*
