  • Actually I see upon review that it's an Ametek, but not sure which one.

  • Is the plywood ziptied to the spokes like your first prototype?

  • @secundiflora i drilled in the lip of the bike rim that was pressed against the wood and then screwed them to the wood with ext deck screws

  • Congrats. What type of generator are you using, and what rpms is it putting out. seems like you could put the tire back on the rim, put a small wheel on the generator, say, a skateboard wheel, and push them against each other. Faster RPM, no belt to worry about. Anyway, that's what I'm working on right now. I even cut containers in half and used zip ties, but didn't have any balance. We are thinking alike on this in a lot of ways. You're really giving me some ideas!

  • @secundiflora thanks for the great feedback. you have a great idea about replacing the need for a belt with pushing the shaft of motor against the bike tire. good luck with yours.

  • Congratulations you have a lot of imagination are the first to use plastic tubs, I find it extraordinary pay my respects to you and greetings

  • Spray paint it. looks great.

  • Volts/Amps or it didn't happen!..(kidding, not really though.)

  • how did you cut those buckets in half?

  • i used a sawz all or recip saw and just eyeballed it :)

  • How were you able to get the "v" belt to stay on the bicycle rim? Wasn't it to skinny to stay on the bike rim?

  • the rim of the bicycle works fine with no modifications, if the belt has enough tension, and the rim / pulley are inline, works great, even though the width of the belt is less then the width of the bike rim.

  • Thanks for the reply. That is what I wanted to know. Hay also were you able to get any real current from this setup? Also, it seems that leverage would work better by having arms extend outward. Seems it would take less wind energy to do more work. Like using a lever to move a large boulder.

  • cool a bike rim thats a good idea.
