Anyway, both of the translations you give seem to be talking about the solar system, and to say that it's not incorrect that the sun orbits something (I guess you mean it orbits the Milky way centre?) is to be way too forgiving for the lack of detail in the verse. I think your glorifying the verse if you think it means Sun rotates around the galaxy.

@peace4theworld722 in a way is incorrect to say, because I'm quite sure it's the entire galaxy that rotates, and the Sun with it. So the Sun doesn't exactly orbit anything.

I'm quite sure that people reading the verse back then looked at the sky to check if it was correct, and yes, I can see the ”proof” with my own eyes. The sun and the moon orbits the earth.

I think it's extremely far stretched to say that this verse predicted modern science.

@staraffinity OK, I see that Wikipedia says that the Sun orbits the galaxy centre, but I still think it's way kind to think verse means that it's the sun that orbits the galaxy. Is most probably talking about the sun orbiting earth. But sure, if you want to think it aims at the suns rotation around the galaxy (where in the Quran is that mentioned by the way - it must do that somewhere since it was know the sun orbits it, right ?) then I think you're reading too much into it.

"And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming."

"And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. "

These are a couple of possibly dozens of scientific references in the Qur'an.

Look it up. If you want to say we "made up fairy tales" thats up to you.

@peace4theworld722 I've read that the Qu'ran implies that the earth is stationary in relation to the sun and moon. Is that not so? It's the sun and moon that floats, not earth? I'm sure that if you want you can find things in the Qu'ran that could be used as references to modern science, but there are things that also contradict it. But I guess as a theist you are very forgiving about the things where your book are not so right. ;)

First, I appreciate the fact you are being polite and courteous (for the most part) because that seems to happen very little in this platform.

However, I ask you to please provide a specific verse where there is a mistake. Many modern atheist scholars contend now that there ARE scientific facts in the Qur'an, but that somehow Muhammad had come to know them from an outside source, or that his society was not as backward as we believe it to be.

Anyway, can't point to to specific verses, don't have the Qu'ran here but, your quotation, verse 21:33 can easily be interpreted as the sun is floating in orbit and if speaking about the solar system (which I guess the verse is) makes it incorrect. I'm sure anyone looking up the sky could agree that the sun and moon seems to orbit or ”float” around the earth.
