@Aricurm calm down these fish can live for hours out of the water, we have one of the healthiest wild sturgeon stocks in the world, its catch and release only , that fish was only out of the water for a couple of minutes, and as you can see the second one wasn't even touched just released at the side of the boat

As a child with a hook stuck in my ankle, I don't think it was the barb that hurt as much as the fishing line pulling my flesh when fishermen brothers tried to reel me in. Of course they had a good old laugh dragging me off to the doctor's surgery. The hook was only a half centimetre.
@ChronicMist we are fishing the FRASER RIVER in British Columbia Canada out in Chilliwack they are protected here it is a catch and release only fishery it is a healthy number of sturgeon some being caught up to 11ft long and lots of small ones too
aren't sturgeons protected by law ? :) anyway, here in Romania they quite prosper in the Danube, expecially in the Danube Delta. the meat is like anything I tried before, it's one of the tastiest fish I have ever eaten
