  • I think Americans must learn inter-cultural communication skills. If you have an accent you might get the worst service than ever. Just try this: Go to starbucks or McDonalds. They got no patience for visitors. They speak so fast as if there is only English language on the globe. I went to Chick-fil-A. A guy laughed at my accent. Since then I feel shy to go to American restaurants. I am from Georgia. We do not say "did you understand?" This is like talking to children.

  • it's actually used in professional development program to train american companies on how to understand their foreign customers. it is also actually used in training foreigners coming to the u.s. on the differences between their cultures & the multiple cultures in the u.s. hope this answer satisfies your question. thx.

  • i am personally passionate about philosophy, political economy & social change. but intercultural communication (etc.) is part of my day job for sustenance! cheers.
