  • It's a shame that it turned out to be such an incredibly shitty logo

  • ibm's poster with eye, bee and letter M is the stupidest picture ever done by marketing idiots. it had absolutely no sense, no taste, no style - just silly set of symbols which sound like the company's name

  • @xtreamof marketing idiots? their objective is to get people to remember the logo and the name. so i guess when you can recall it with full detail despite hating it, thats a successful marketing son.

  • @ItsAHN Yourself, my little teenage friend, had no idea about that logo until watched this very video filmed 19 years ago.

I recall it cause I've been working in the big blue in the times when you were knocking neighbors doors on Halloween and celebrating birthdays in mcdonalds

Go watch those rappers videos you rated on youtube and don't interrupt adult's conversations.

Teach ur classmates marketing when u'll get your first dream job as a waiter or at the gas station or whatever, kid

  • @xtreamof dude really came up with 4 paragraphs trynna protect his insecurities. you must be a security guard in the big blue the way you trynna guard yourself. people must have hurt your feelings in the past. i'm sorry old man. i wont interrupt these adult's conversations anymore. go eat your medicine and watch your 10oclock news.

    insecure senior citizens..

  • worst Steve jobs interview ever.

  • Great communicator.... such an important skill for a leader .. it does not matter what he made for apple, next, pixar what matters is people perceive him to be the creator of apple, ipod, iphone and ipad.. his death has led so many people to follow every aspect of his life.. thats what charisma and leadership is all about..every leader has his own critics and Steve will have also have his own..

  • lol pay me $100k and I will make a logo for you. I don't care if you use it. and you get no options.

  • Legend on another.

  • THIS AINT ONLY ABOUT STEVE JOBS, ITS ABOUT PAUL RAND TOO

  • his dresser was probably filled with the same ensemble over and over. he's like Monk

  • This is great! Thanks for posting.

  • Steve is obviously a deep thinker himself. He's one of those people who takes time to consider the best way to phrase his response before retorting - rather than what most of us do: saying 'um' 'er' 'it's kinda..'

  • Really sad that a great Technology King is no more with us.

  • Such a bad hair-cut, lol

  • I feel in love in Macintosh in 1992 when I was buy my first Mac LC

    R.I.P Steve Jobs

  • Interesting...

  • Genius R.I.P

  • he was fat

  • @tokerj3 On this basis you can talk shit of every human accomplishment which represents an intellectual, cultural or artistic achievements. For the same reason we can say that Beethoven is a wank, because is very expensive to put together an orchestra to play it. I think Apple is got the right balance between art-design-and cultural value in their products. They sell a lifestyle, they sponsor a way of thinking, they innovate without waiting for the market, they open new markets. Is a rare thing.

  • Steve Jobs = 

  • Most of rand paul's designs flat out suck. There's no texture to them, no clarity, no nothing. He's just hyped up "legend" who abuses the fact one can get away with simple designs a put a faux meaning behind that simplicity but when really there's not.

    "Business problem solver" my ass.

  • Wow, he looks pretty chubby in this interview, now he is way too skinny

  • 3:10 -- awesome

  • What are Steve Jobs' talents exactly, I wonder. I know he is a great public speaker and a great motivator, but as the chief executive of the world's valuable tech company, is he a great financial wizard? A technical genius? If anybody knows more about Jobs than I do, I'd like to hear.

  • @dcolby5 Well he worked at Atari for a bit as a technician, but I would say he is more of an innovator and someone with great vision. He sees potential in things that others don't, even if they are already products, he and the apple marketing mill are able to reinvent things in a way that excites people, which is probably his greatest skill. Steve Wozniak was the technical genius, that man is an inspiration as far as tech goes!

  • u mean RIM

  • Rand Paul is a bitch.

  • all i want fir christmas is a next computer a next computer

  • This Guy is a Legend, no more questions about him

  • I don't know about you guys but he looks a lot like PC from the PC vs Mac ads in this vid. :P

  • Very interesting. Praise our lord and savior, O Steve Jobs.

  • brilliant insight into the mind of a genius

  • Two years before I was born.

  • it is possible to get a copy of the series of the interview? want to watch other people interview too...

  • I love steve's dramatic pauses in his speaking. Not immediately after a question was asked, but mid sentence where he'd stop, and put together his next lines very masterfully. Also notable in his opinion of Microsoft around this era.

  • Apple's logo is beautiful, but NeXT is... yuck!!!!! it's a 1990's computer desktop's icon xP

  • @PabloNeirotti Since NeXT was founded in 1985, they were ahead of their time, then.

  • @bigbold2 hah, that's a good way to see it =P

  • So he made an apple for a company named Apple. He's obviously a huge genious.

  • @xr0 He is not talking about the Apple logo. He is talking about the NeXT logo.

  • @w3bt3k Correct what You say :).

  • what kind of depth is steve talking about in the words IBM?

  • @kurt05051987 I believe he was talking about the [eye] [bee] M poster, which was unclear from his response.

  • @onefineline lol

  • I think in Paul Rand, Steve Jobs sees elements of himself, ala (Ayn Rand's) Roarke

  • lol

  • I am currently studying about paul rand in my graphic design course, and Paul was very interesting in the scope of work that he had done. I mean he designed logos you see everyday. When I was a kid, and to this day!

  • And yet, he still wears the same clothing.... he must have his closet full of the same shirt and pants... he even brands his image... Steve is good.

  • Steve God

  • 4:03 I thought the Eames designed his house?

  • This is interesting because of the fact that IBM had Paul Rand do their logo, and now Steve Jobs went and had Paul Rand redo Apples. Both were competitors since the begging of the making of Apple. Besides the fact, Paul Rand was a smart man with design assets that could solve any problem.

  • Paul rand NEVER made anything for apple... he designed a logo for NeXT, a company from Steve jobs after he was laid off from Apple.

  • @swisskorean and the same company which was acquired by Apple only.

  • Could this have been after Mr. Rand passed away? Sometime around 97?

Interesting that all through design school, we're trained to show a client different versions, at a job or project, we're also sot of expected to provide many ideas. But is that problem solving or is it creating more problems.

There's something very well thought out about Rand's showing that one logo as the problem solved.

  • This was shot in 1993 i believe...

  • good point about suggesting many ideas. That is really special about Rand and proofs his emotional approach.

    Ps; he died in 1996

  • hehehehe

    "do it again"

    "quantity over quality"

  • Jobs has always been years ahead of his contemporaries. He had that weirdo page boy haircut years before it was popularized by Javier Bardem! : )

  • Steve is super skinny now.

  • Cool, it's the RedWOOD (not -mond :) City Campus for NeXT in the 90s in the background.

Paul Rand, was basically the only graphics designer in existence in the 60s to 90s who could make corp. logos simplistic, identity-forging, and pleasing to the eye.

  • HAHA what a HOMOPHOBE

  • id rather be a homophobe than be you

  • Whoa.. Check out the timecode..

  • he isnt writing the code, but he has good programmers!

  • "would you give us a few options?" "NOOOOOOO!!!" : Paul Rand.

  • Nice insight into brand building

  • Thank you for sharing that!

  • with out NEXT, there would be no apple OSX. Thank you steve jobs, i love you. have my children?

  • Wanna know why he got fired?

Because of the same people that cry out EVERY time Apple releases a new device because they don't get what Apple - and Steve Jobs - are trying to accomplish: perfect usability.

    Perfect man-machine interfaces.

Uninspired people without imagination, with no understanding of design what so ever, those people got him fired and almost destroyed Apple.

These people run companys like Dell, HP, IBM, Nokia, BlackBerry ... Their customers only look at feature lists.

  • i agree :)

most people can not understand this what you said and they can not understand Apple or Apple products.

  • @aqayax

    essai de post

  • @nfoo Support. I respect Steve Jobs a lot. He's gone through a lot too :\

  • @nfoo yet for some reason windows rules 93% of the market and has a better quality product

  • @nfoo Well said sir :D some people just dont get it, but that fine, leave them with their error ridden Windows...

  • @nfoo Amen

  • @nfoo you should really pull your nose out of steve jobs ass for a second and take a breath of fresh air.

  • @nfoo 100% agreed.

  • @nfoo THANK YOU i wish i could double and triple like this!

  • @nfoo Best comment ever :-). Sad to realise that technology today is not looked as an art but simply spec sheets today. I mean, it's ok if my Mac has less RAM, etc. but they will always be faster than PC's in 5 years or so because of their perfect combination of software and hardware.

Thank you Jobs. Nerds will never understand your true vision and keep up the excellent work,.

  • @nfoo And thats why those companies were so successful. The most common consumer wants something with features at a fair price, not an over-designed, over-priced thing that does exactly the same thing or in many cases today like the iphone and ipad, much less.

  • 2008 and still wearin that same iturtleneck.

  • Yes.

  • LOL many things that you are using today on your crapy PC

  • I'd like you to explain that.

  • I'd like you to explain this.

  • how is he an idiot? please explain

  • BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

He's a business genius. Look at how he turned Apple around. They might not be the largest, but they're the most profitable. He knows how to make a healthy company, not to mention a spectacular operating system. If you can't see this, I feel sorry for you.

  • thanks for uploading this!

  • 1993 to be exact

  • hmmm, thats to early, steve dint had that exact type of hair in 93, is more like mid 90`s, like 95.

  • is that in 1995?
