2) Why couldn't Genkai catch onto the tricks Team Ichigaki was playing like Yusuke did?

Yusuke used rapid fire in a previous fight and to quote from the manga, "Because that split decision sucked you dry. Rapid fire is not for beginners." I don't quite remember if he was warned about how he could ruin his arm if he attempted the spirit gun in the anime but in the manga he was.

As to your second question, not sure. Maybe she did notice and just didn't care.
