Well, first of all the risks of global warming actually doing anything significantly harmful to anyone are minuscule.. and even if the worst came true, it could be quickly reversed by pumping sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere.

Regardless, the Earth won't sustain live forever no matter what any humans do. The real "most important challenges to homo sapiens" are (1) developing mass space travel and (2) terra-forming.
