Dominic Bugatti Frank Musker and john waite are credited with the song "Back On My Feet Again" off the Union Jacks album released in 1980. It was 35 on the Billboard top 100 from memory. waite rewrote the lyrics as far as I can understand.
I think it's a great song, well worthy of anything Sweet recorded post-Connolly. Perhaps Andy, Steve and Mick realised their own writing talents wouldn't suffice for the 1980s?
@dvfmliv No way. They lost confidence in their own abilities and that's why they started singing other people's songs again. But they really needed was the right vehicle and that would have meant getting Brian back.
It was originally given to the band in demo form as recorded by Paul Nicholas. It would seem Paul did too good a job. The company used the demo instead of the Sweet version.
I found my Platinum Rare cd cover and the notes state that Yesterday's hero was written by Musker and Bugatti as johnwaitethegreatest mentioned earlier.
The song was not written by the band. I can't remember who wrote it as I don't have the Platinum Rare cd any more. I'm trying to get this cd again. Andy (by memory) said they were using this song to try and get Sweet back into the public eye. This information is only going by my memory as I don't have the liner notes about this song that Andy Scott wrote about this song in front of me.
Hi there, This song was recorded by the Scott-Priest-Tucker version of Sweet in 1980. It was never officially released until the Platinum Rare Cd of which Andy Scott and Kevin Smith compiled. Andy Scott said in his liner notes on Platinum Rare cd going by memory that he was told their version was too heavy, which he found hard to believe.
This song was originally given to Sweet to record as Yesterdays Hero. Steve said they hated it and turned it down so the writers gave it to the Babys and they rewrote it and had a hit with Back On My Feet again.
Actually, it is released in 2001 on Platinum Rare [UK]. Good tune but the spirit of 70's was lost and the ability to write songs on their own. This one is written by Aaron Schroeder; Al Cleveland; Carl Spencer; Wally Gold.
song its very good but....Brian would made it waaay better.

Steve Priest hated it. Thats why they never released it either as a single, on an album, or even as a b side.

The vocals don't sound THAT bad to me, a tad flat maybe, but I've heard worse that's for sure.

Paul Nicholas had a minor hit with the same song.
Written by Bugatti and Musker

Not bad but they really lost a lot when Brian departed. This would have been much better if Brian had sung it.

When did the SWEET release this song? The BABYS "Back On My Feet Again" has a very similar sound...

John Waite hated the original Lyrics:
Qoute :I wasn't gonne be a loser, now wasn't I ?
johnwaitethegreatest 3 years ago
I was wondering how the Babys felt about the lyrics. Steve always says it was a dreadful song with the lyrics it had originally.
SuezySweet 1 year ago
That explains why I was hearing the music and it didn't sync with the lyrics (or voice) in my head.

Didn't the Bay City Rollers have a song by the same name?

The Bay City Rollers did a cover of an Australian song by John Paul Young called Yesterday's Hero.
