Omar and Cedric don't give a shit about what the record label thinks of the music, what the music media thinks of the music, and ESPECIALLY what the fans think of the music. They're gonna do what they're gonna do, and they're prepared to make new fans as well as lose some old ones. I for one think that this album is going to stand right up to their previous works, possibly as high as Frances The Mute. Feel free to agree or disagree, but I see no wrong in this direction they're taking.

I didn't like Bedlam either. It was screechy and un-interesting. Some songs are alright, Ouroborous and Goliath, but I wasn't a fan of the rest. I love De-Loused, Frances, and Amputechture though. And unlike a lot of peoople, I really, really like Amputechture. Just not Bedlam.

You know, I think people are judging this album a little too harshly, and looking at it with a very closed mind, something TMV would never do. The Mars Volta is a band that does whatever the hell they want because it makes them happy and they get bored a lot. You can bash the "mellow" feel all you want, but to me, it's like a breath of fresh air from all the fucking craziness of the last 4 albums. I do love the craziness too! But holy shit, what qualifies as a 'ballad' for TMV can be incredible!
