That is effing brilliant! I always meant to try something like this although I would never have got it as good as that. I think some of your heat effects look better than the movie.
Altough its the greatest opening scene ever its too damn short! you're just getting to dig the re-entry sequence and the music and then it all stops for the dialogue and 'crash'. I't be brilliant to have extended version - thats what made me think of modelling it. .
@ItzLiaMXD I wasn't really quoting I was saying it as if I was watching it happening and then asked someone next to me "Did the primary-buffer panel just fall off THAT gorram ship?" but if I was to quote Mal I would of put Quotation marks. " " (those things) :D
Shiny! Yes, the exhaust from those side engines was exaggerated a bit, and the "Serenity" logo is a bit blurry around the edges, but aside from that this animation is fantastic.
--Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason!?!?
Brilliant! I wish I could create an animation like this. This is the greatest opening scene to a movie ever, and it's on the greatest movie ever!
How did you animate Serenity like that? Could you show me how, or send me a link to the software you used so that I could download it and give it a go?
You've done the impossible and that makes you mighty :D
I think this is great, but a little bit of camera shake/shudder and a few stars, as well as some very light, reflective fog to simulate the heat coming off the engines.. it'd be perfect.
If ref090 was doing animation for a big production company there is every possibility that he or she might have to work with a model constructed by someone else. I for one cannot blame someone for using whatever resources available to achieve a certain end goal... and do you have any idea how difficult a model of the Serenity is to build in 3D? I've tried - the keyword here being 'tried'...
Also, I think you overdid the thrust from the side engines. I need to check the show/movie again to be sure, but I don't think they had quite so much output.
Small things, both of them. I just thought I'd bring them up.
And to end on a positive note, I really liked the effect of the tail engine's light rotating around the back of the ship.
"What was that???"

Nicely done. How many people noticed the panel that flew off at the last second?
A little bit of constructive criticism, if you don't mind.
Something is off on the edges of the Serenity logo. The sides of the word fade. (cont.)
