The suffering of innocents is always bad, but why is it that people expect to wage war without war crimes? The soldiers are young boys trained to be violent and kill, and you're surprised there are cases of racist bigots or graffiti? Your standards are absurd. The command to leave their homes, for example, was a result of commands from high. If some racist or scared kid then exploited it to shoot at children, he may be blamed, but the commands that he was under did not include that.

I have no support for Hamas at all. They hid in schools and public areas, used civilians as shields, and continued to send rockets into Israeli towns. Israel sent text messages and dropped leaflets on villages, saying when the area would be attacked, thus giving people ample time to escape to a safe place and completely getting rid of the element of surprise. Israel only strikes militants, yet Hamas deliberately aims for places where young children in Israel are, like towns and schools.

I think Israel acted disproportionately, and caused excessive civilian casualties. I think Hamas provoked this attack in order to solidify its power among the Palestinians. The painting "Dueling with Cudgels" best represents what I think Israel and Palestine are doing: beating each other to death while sinking in a bog.
