I owned one of these. Good PowerBook, but in my case, the CD/DVD slot drive section caved in after constant normal pro use.
I started noticing cracks right around the center top of the slot and then it kept cracking and caving in to the point that the structure of the right palm rest and optical drive housing started touching and scratching discs.
They improved with later models of course, but that was my experience. I used OS 9 mostly, loved that OS.
@dinnerandashow actually Apple has been using NVIDIA GPUs for a very long time, but not as long as the ATI/AMD chips, they've had the GeForce 2 MX in some Power Mac G4s and iMac G4s and the NVIDIA GeForce 420 Go/440 Go/FX 5200 Go in the Aluminium PowerBooks 2003 12"/17" and 12" 04/05.
it was sold for $3,499 10 years ago & i just found one on ebay for 128$ lol the apple products that are out today will cost prob within the 100-200 range by 2020 so i will be able to afford an ipad someday:)
If you check the benchmarks on many computer hardware sites Intel processors are more then two times faster then PowerPCs. The Core2Duos beat PowerPC chips in both power consumption and performance.
"It's not going to change it, it's going to revolutionize it!" I think I have heard it from the same guy in every introduction video powermac G4, and others!
I have a PowerMac Dual 1GHz G4 with 1GB ram and I can't watch youtube on it :( and my PowerMac Dual 2,0 GHz G5 with 4GB ram can do youtube as long its not youtube HD. Vimeo is useless on a G5. Flash on Mac sucks
@Thegamer5150 Umm... no. My old iMac DV SE 400 from 1999 is faster than my acer net-top. And since this PB is a faster G4, yeah. The 1.6 atom is sooo ridiculously slow.
you know, I have one with a similar story. got it free, but the HD was dead, keys missing, had been dropped a couple of times (case actually cracked) and was covered in gouges and generaly damage (yes gouges - not just scratches). got it going, and there's something very groovy about a really messed up mac laptop. didn't have the balls to go to leopard though!
Hey dumb fuck, this computer was introduced in January and 9/11 didn't happen until September, 8 months later. And I bet that the families of all the victims wouldn't give a fuck about a new Mac, even if it could scratch their balls!
I wish i could go back in time to like 1990 and show steve jobs my macbook air :D I don't know why but it would be cool. I was thinking about that yesterday.
I mean, if i could I would try to stop 9/11, but I said that from a technology standpoint. But of course i would do that, I would love to stop my uncle from dieing!
God you take thing's so personal. Anyway I would not stop 911 or Perl Harbor because it might have have serious consequences on the future. We could be ruled by the Japanese, you don't know. I like today how it is.
Even today, 1'' is pretty thin for a notebook. A lot of the newer notebooks from Apple, HP, Sony and Dell are moving towards a wedge-design that is thicker than 1'' at the back but thinner at the front.
note for all the commercials for the g4 computers (apart from the imac g4, they call them all supercomputers. but they stopped saying that from the g5 computers onwards
They probably wanted to avoid any potential lawsuit from customers who felt misled when they didn't actually buy a "supercomputer." Not to mention that soon after the release of the G4 Titanium, cheaper notebooks became available that had better specs. The G4 Titanium had looks, but is power honestly was really not all that much better than its competitors of the day.
PowerBook G4: Lighter than Aluminum, 2 years later they use Aluminum in the new PowerBook G4s!
iBook G3: No latch! 2 years later, they put a latch on the iBook G4.
iMac G4: Don't put the logic board parallel to the displa and don't put the optical drive sideways. 3 years later, they put the logic board and optical drive sideways in the iMac G5!
1990s: PowerPC is way faster than intel. 2005, lets partner up with intel, the fastest CPU maker!

I like PPC better then Intel as well. Running on a last revision iBook G4 for my main machine. But I don't think you are correct in saying that the G4 will not be supported after Leopard. @Btroisi13 Times change my friend. For example, before the PowerPC was indeed more powerful then the Intel chips on that generation. But intel eventually caught up with the Core Duo. :)

Want the old YouTube back?
Remember when you go to your youtube page and there wasn't an advertisement at the top of the page?
Remember when music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO
Remember when there wasn't advertisements that never go away?
Remember you couldn't have a limit to favorites?
Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?
WE MISS THE OLD YOUTUBE!
Post this in every video and lets start a youtube riot!
