Have had this on vinyl since it came out-brilliant!!!-McCoy:"A man reflecting on what religion means to him, reflecting on the meaning of life"-how could anyone dislike this incredibly spiritual work of art?
Probably my favorite Tyner piece, though I can't decide which version I like best. I prefer Tyner's playing here, but the sax duet (Antonio Hart, Joshua Redman) on "Prelude and Sonata" (recorded in November 1994 on Milestone) blows me away - long slow build to a searing climax. Can't find it here so I guess I'll have to post that one up.
WOW....I used to see McCoy all the time in Dayton, OH at Gilley's in the 60's and early 70', also at The Rhino Club, when it was still open. His jazz always soothed me and pleased me.
My oldest brother let me hear this when I was 15 years old he was at Howard UN in DC and I fell in love with jazz the horns piano drums and bass heart broken have not seen my big bro in 26 years MIA DJ Doc
I'm just finding out about this guy. Keep the vids and chatter up..I am finding his work in the most unusual places..pawn shops, thrift stores and so on. Love the way he handles the 88's
One of my favorite jazz tunes. Love when Joe Henderson and McCoy come in at the beginning - real bittersweet. If I ever make a movie this song will be in it. Thanks for posting this.
damn this is sexy.

@MercuriousGeorg Gotta agree with you-if McCoy has anything better than this I'd love to hear it.

There's always something older than you are. And that's a good thing! Turn 50 this weekend; i want to see something older ;)
The important part is to ensure the school remains standing.
Keep Jazz Alive Forever.

I just bought it remastered version by Rudy Van Gelder (RVG) Mosaic Records. I already have a T-shirt titled same. Enjoy all sides.

Wonderful piece by McCoy. Joe Henderson flies away. The rhythm section is so smooth
