  • chopped phrasing, terrible left hand, barely could hear not even half

  • terrible

  • @liana563 Agree. Reminds Avdeeva - another "great student talent"

  • God that was beautiful! One of the finest young pianists of her generation!

  • Incredable Romantic Chopin.Bravo Maestra.

  • I love the swan like undulations of her arms. It's almost like ballet.

  • a stunningly beautiful performance in every way, played by any equally stunningly-beautiful young woman . . . .whoever filmed this and edited it did a tremendously good job . . . .an excellent video job that , for once, matches the audio beauty. THanks to whomever treated us to this performance.

  • This is my second favorite Chopin Nocturne, I had never heard this pianist before but I'll be sure to watch out for her!

  • @randomuserguy Ingrid was in Austin,Texas on April10th. . .I dont know if this means she is on "tour," but if she is, you gotta go see her. You will never see anyone play a piano so FAST in your life. . .she was truly stunning ! ! !

  • Beautiful! Slow and delicate is how Chopin's Nocturnes should be performed - as though lulling you into a dream.

  • Wow...what a performance

  • Never heard her before but this is superb, thoughtful passion galore, perfect blend of strong emotion and intellect.

I´m definitely getting a CD with her playing.

  • She was born to play Chopin.

  • Ingrid Filter is one of the most amazing pianists to arrive in years! Her lyrical and passionate interpretations of Chopin's works are spellbinding. I have found a new favorite pianist, and being a jazz pianist, I have a special appreciation for her artistry.

  • she's exerting to much effort... look at her arms at the start of the music... i just dont wanna look at her playing to justify my mind that she's not exerting too much effort...

  • Beautifully expressive playing allied to an obviously intelligent mind. Will jump at the chance of hearing her in recital whenever the opportunity arises.

  • This is amazing, so emotional!

Looking at the comments it's funny the way people still have youtube style slagging matches even on a video of Chopin! I guess this medium is corrupting us all...

  • Her touch makes for wonderfully expressive music. It's like making love - the quality of the touch makes all the difference. Only Piotr Anderszewski's in the same league.

    Her Chopin CDs are wonderful.

  • how can u little sophomores debate anything u havent been able to learn wht the issues are and who r your teachers ? no you havent quite won out there either. let the electro waves aleave your poor brains. U morons dont even recognoze her amazing sense of color and her well trained wrists. Her instincts too r fine. Enough.

  • Chopin's masterpieces are SO GOURGEOUS .... ! ! ! SO PRETTY ! So Esoteric ... and philosophical . . . !

  • She is lovely.

  • Ingrid is one of the best Chopin interpreters I have ever listened to. Her understaning of his works is amazing, as well as her abilities to play with such profound feelings.

I had the chance to chit chat with her after a few concerts. She is also a lovely woman.

  • @NickyRamone77 I agree, she has it all. Rare musicality, brilliant technique, charisma and dare I say it - good looks!.

maxi937 wrote - "There is not one chinese pianist who can play Chopin. They are heartless"

Hey maxi937, Yundi Li (a great chinese pianist) defeated your Ingrid Fliter during the 14th International CHOPIN Competion. Take note : CHOPIN competition. He was only 18 years old then, while she was 26 or 27 years old.

What is your basis in saying "[chinese] are heartless? Do you have problem on Chinese people?

  • Based on her playing in this video clip vs. a live Yundi Li performance this spring I'd say there *might* just be a wee bit of merit to whatever heartless Maxi937 wrote though.

Make no mistake I am (was) a big fan of Li and I have all his CDs and DVDs. That recent live performance IMO was indeed "heartless" though.

  • She plays very well, but for my taste Janne Mertanen´s version is the best.

  • He looks like a "woman" . Amazing

  • what wrong with playing like a woman?

  • I am looking for the piece which was played in the beginning of the film called "The Pianist". Please does anyone know what´s the name of the piece?

  • nocturne in c sharp minor post.

  • Thank you, have a nice day.

  • Chopin's "Nocturne"

  • in that movie i prefer the second piece in the interlude at the forlorn house when the pianist plays the private recital for the german captain song is "ballade 1 in g minor by frederich chopin"

  • She plays the love wright into me

  • She plays from the heart, unlike Lang Lang, who is more interested in the sound and facial expressions

  • No he's not

  • Yea he is in a LOWER level..

  • Unwise comparison. They all make very good music.

  • they are both very skilled, i would disagree with your comments regarding Lang Lang.

  • I heard her today (12/8/08)in a live concert. Every cell in my heart answered her playing. She was fabulous. She is fabulous.

Subtle, fine. Strong when it is needed. No sentimentality but never, never dry.

  • If you hear her playing Chopin Concerto No.2,maybe you will change your mind..

  • I love her very-very much.

  • How about being grown-ups and stop comparing who's better and just appreciating each artist for what they present?

  • There is not one chinese pianist who can play Chopin. They are heartless.

  • What a statement !!! And you think you appreciate music.

  • Are you sure ????

  • I have no idea how Yundi Li beat her out. She plays with more heart than he. She understands the sould of Chopin better also.

  • Fliter is, for me, the best Chopin interpreter alive. Not even her sensei Argerich can beat the heart of this woman when she plays like this. She spills sensitivity in her performance like no other.

  • excellent perfomance !

  • what a beautiful music.. :3 love it

  • Oh my god! It was so great when she visited our school and had a guest recital!!!

I really love her performance that I almost cried after!! :^)

  • She is an exceptionally talented pianist. She won the highly regarded Gilmore Award a few years ago. Wish we could see her more in the US. I saw her at the Miami Intl Piano Festival last year and she was outstanding.

  • Man, I wish I would have been there. I live in Plantation, near Ft. Lauderdale.

  • what a gorgeous girl. taken?

  • taken, taken :)

  • During an arguement with a friend recently, I took the position that women are much better interpreters of Chopin than men. She pointed out the number of Chopin Competition that are women (3, counting co-winners in 1949), and I pointed her to Ingrid, Valentina Igostina and Martha Augerich...so there, Betts!!!

    Last word!!!

  • chopin was a man :)

  • ...my friend has spies everywhere...grrrrrrr....

    :D

  • kevinfromSD:

why dont you upload your version of this piece so we can all see to whom she has been compared to . you seem to be not very well informed about the process of selection of the gilmore award.

  • Superb control and touch between hands. Very graceful playing and I agree with classicalguy07, yes she is hot!

  • This is my mom's 2nd cousin so of course I think she's great.

  • Amazing! From The NY Times:

"Ms. Fliter, a 33-year-old Argentine musician based in Milan, Italy, remains little known to American audiences. She has performed primarily in Europe and the Far East! Her Beethoven and Chopin performances show an exacting technique & keen intelligence, animated by an impetuous temperament reminiscent of Ms. Fliter's Argentine forerunner, Martha Argerich.

  • excellent perfomance !

  • Excellent performance! One of the best!

Best wishes from Marcelo, Rose, Jonathan & Steven

  • is that an overrated steinway?

  • yes, this is a wonderful performance, I'm not sure I've heard it performed better!

  • Wow! Regardless how many times you hear this piece, she makes something new with it!! And she's hot too!
