  • That's what I say. Why didn't the Stones use Bill more?

  • ROLLING STONES are KEITH RICHARDS and BILL WYMAN

  • Bill...fucking comeback dude...seriously bro..come the fuck back, the stones are bleeding man

  • 1 I love Bill Wyman as much as any diehard stones fan but

what jagger meant was that it was easy decision to continue playing without bill rather than to not play not tour at all.by 1994 each original members cut of the tour would be over 20 million. jagger would be insane at that point in time to start touring as the rolling stones 1994 was the first year that the big time money came in for touring. Bill Wyman currently states that he cannot live off of rolling stones royalties

  • I wish he could be back with the Stones, but if it was a toxic relationship then you've got to move on. Great Song! But whether Bill Wyman is with the stones or not is the least of our problems in this particular time!

  • i guess it would help more if i read being that it was the early 90's not the 80's.lol sorry about that.

  • i didn't find it all that bad.nice to find a hidden song/music video out there:-)

  • Bill Wyman is skilled, multi talented and personable. I'm not saying this is a brilliant song, it is not. Bill has been a talented musician for a long time, period end of story!

  • Oh my GOD that was horrible!!! I love the Rolling Stones and also love Bill Wyman. But I never knew about this song. I cant believe he did this . This is one of the worst songs I have ever heard. It was embarrassing. At least tell me this came out in the 80"s. That would be a little bit of a defense at least.

  • love this song

  • The one and only Wyman

  • I wonder will Wyman work together with Taylor...? They may create a really good bamd.

  • Bill Wyman.. NICE !!! he s got this "not easy to define" mystic about his own work. You can say its simple, good, original, genious, but anyway it got this undefined carisma!!! Nice, really nice, will you check u out more man, I think it shows that Stones, didnt give him more space, cause fear, and Jagger-Richards ruled. Pity, but .. this is great !

  • My ears have always sought out the bass lines & Bill's Bass on Some Girls Album was tops. Listen to your old records & focus on Bill. He does deserve more respect than he's given.

  • Actually, I was sad to read recently that a lot of the Stones songs that had bass lines that I love like "Happy" or "Miss You" or "Emotional Rescue" and many others were either Keith or Ronnie doing them. However, the ones Bill does do are simply Bill. He has his own style and is hard to copy. He can go from a brawny note to a real thin note in a 1/2 a second flat. This vid is cool, the song would be better if his vocals weren't so buried in the mix..but then again that was typical 80's-90's.

  • Yes, I remember reading some of them were Ronnie but Bill still was very good. Bill can't really sing so I suppose that is why they are mixed as they are. I still really like the sound of Bills solo stuff as it was the soundtrack to my early 80's life. I guess I love the memories that flash through my mind when I play those records. It's like a dream world compared to the craziness we live in today.

  • I agree with ya. That was my era. However, I had Monkey Grip Glue but didn't play it much. I did play the song "Pussy" over and over again..for obvious reasons. Other than that...didn't really care much for his solo stuff. I think he's pry one of the best bass players of all time besides, Enwistle and Jack Bruce. I think Bill is pry the most down to earth out of all the Stones as well. Or at least the most sane..lol

  • Yes, Monkey Grip was not so good but I really liked that picture disk with Nuclear Reactions...Think that might have been the albums title too. Also loved the Green Ice movie soundtrack he did, really nice.

  • I've heard of the Green Ice soundtrack, but never heard it. Anyone on here ever see Digital Dreams? It actually got good reviews and centers around Bill Wyman trying to computerize his life or something. I'd like to see it actually.

  • Yes, I still have Digital Dreams on VHS somewhre + the LP soundtrack only released at the movie showings. I was going to sell it on ebay but decided I had to keep it. You really should try & find the Green Ice soundtrack..mostly instrumental but he had Maria Muldaur ("Midnight At The Oais" Gal) singing a couple songs.

  • I totally agree.. Just one correction.. Bill laid the bass line for Miss You.. It's one of his most famous and all the stones have said how essential he was to the song... But everything else you said was pretty good

  • Yep, sorry about that one. Your right. He was on Miss You. That's pry my favorite bass line of his. One other that has gone unoticed for years and forgotten about it Too Much Blood. Turn your bass up and have a listen to that. I think it makes the song.

  • I have heard that.. It's pretty banging.. But he was making really good bass lines in the eighties.. Now, I really think his peak is Slipping Away.. I know it's kinda become keith's trademark in live performance. But the song on Steel Wheels would be nothing without Bill

  • I think most of the Stones song are nothing without Bill. Everytime they come around I go see them and I always will, but they've turned into a funk band and that can only be because of bassist Daryl Jones and how he plays. It just doesn't sound right. If it was 1976 and they were playing songs off Black and Blue it would go good, but I don't want to hear a funk bass line on Gimme Shelter or Start Me Up. Just ain't the Stones.

  • this is unreal, really ... not good. No, really Mr. Jones simply plays a more powerful bass.

  • Bill Wyman's Style is just different, he's always had a kind of light-ish approach to the Bass, but thats just his Style.

  • jagger said that replacing bass in stones was the easiest. obvious cheap shot. bill is an amazing bassist. fricken unreal actually and since theyve had that guy who plays real straight, it's sucked big time. they need this jazzy lines, not a straight 1-2-3-4 bass banging. but alas, bill figured he's made enough to last him his retirement.

  • I have to say that I have a lot of respect for both Bill Wymans and Darryl Jones and I don't think Jones's playing with the Stones sucks in any way whatsoever. Sure its a bit different but I still think he does them justice. Having said all that Wyman was the original, he kicked ass and no one can change that.

  • Yeah Daryl Jones isn't a good fit and I don't know why they haven't kept him. They could have went with a supergroup style. Put in Jack Bruce or even Stanley Clarke (who the Stones have had on sessions). This Jones bass player hasn't been cutting it for about 20 years now. Let's face it, their stuff after Bill left (with a few exceptions) pretty much suck.

  • yeah, DJones made Stones banal, mundane, common, pointless.

  • Yeah...too much funk. Stones are rock and it just doesn't mix well. Along with that they have the same touring horns and piano players they've had since 1989, which is starting to sound stale. Its kind of bad when the horn section overrides the guitars and vocals. Miss my old stones!

  • @dannyd1572

that's interesting. But Bobby Keys is alright. he still does a great Brown Sugar lead there. but yeah, you're right. even Chuck L on keys... and the back vocals, Bernard or whatever. it's all stale. too bad cuz they sure were the greatest rock band in the world.

  • Yeah, Bobby Keys will always live in Stones folklore. He was there since Sticky Fingers and is famous in his own right. But that other stuff should go. I watched them do Sympathy For The Devil the other night at the Isle of Wight festival and Chuck Leavelle did about a 3 minute piano intro before Mick came out and did his Ooh Ooh's for another 2 minutes. Just terrible. That isn't rock. It sounded more likea gospel church choir intro, which is completey the opposite of the song..lol

  • yeah, right! I don't know what happened to Mick and Keith. How are they standing this defilement? it's becoming a Vegas act. I prefer to remember the pre 80s Stones and try not to compare this to it at all, cuz it simply isn't in the same category.

it's like Beatles and McCartney solo. total disparity. one's awesome and one's just bland nonsense. it's weird the same people can produce such different product.

  • Seems like it all pretty much hinges on Mick shaking his ass to a horn section..lol

  • @tubelogin1 Yeah! Bill had a unique sound that was the real Stones. It't the classic "sum of the parts is better than the whole". They haven't had a decent groove since Bill left. The straight bass playing is just plain sterile. I know loads of very talented musicians; technically much better than I - but they can't get a groove or jam with any soul.

  • @CaptainPrivate A similar thing happened, for example, when the Moody Blues replaced Mike Pinder. The little french squirrel killed the Moody Blues' sound. It became "McMoody Blues".

  • @tubelogin1 They don't hide that faceless dude behind their amps for nuthin.

  • @tubelogin1 I love Bill Wyman as much as any diehard stones fan but

what jagger meant was that it was easy decision to continue playing without bill rather than to not play not tour at all.by 1994 each original members cut of the tour would be over 20 million. jagger would be insane at that point in time to start touring as the rolling stones 1994 was the first year that the big time money came in for touring. • bill come back, suzanne come back.

  • Praise to Bill ,we all miss him, But this sucks big time.

  • Wyman's solo material is the best of The Stones, no wonder he felt stifled with the group

  • I agree Bill is underrated, but he is amazing.

  • Bill Wyman is a awfully underrated. Bill come back!

  • Great song and video. Did anyone else spot magician Simon Drake right at the end?

  • nice, hail hail bill wyman
