I think flair holds the record for most world titles........flair has been champion 16 times but it also makes him a 15 time loser.,.......I still love flair WOOOOOOO
His victory over Yokozuna was garbage. Yoko lost his balance and fell. It looked like he slipped on a banana peel. His shoulders were'nt completely on the mat for the three and It made Bret look like he got lucky. How much pain would it have been for Bret to win with the Sharpshooter?
simply awesome acting with well timed moves (that dont hurt only if they go wrong), u gota love it... there is no world champions its all fixed outcomes
Funny story. They were shoving Luger down our throats as the All-American hero that would eventually defeat the evil Japanese sumo monster Yokozuna which failed like crazy. All of those attempts for an American to defeat Yokozuna, yet a CANADIAN was the one that did it.
yea, it was pretty expected that luger was gonna win the title, but i think he really didn't get over as well with the wwf fans that vince had hoped, plus his contract was up soon and i am sure that he wanted to be back in wcw at the time.
@lightning116 allegedly, luger was booked to win the title from yoko but screwed up and drunkenly told fans in a bar the previous night that he was booked to win the match the following day at summer slam. so vince changed the outcome and luger never got the strap. it was really bad booking, would have made sense luger to win and for bret and luger to have some sort of feud because they were both over with the fans. that never happened.
WCW had alot of assholes in the crowd. Two of the greatest actual wrestlers ever (despite Benoit's tragic end,he's one of the greats,I don't care what anyone may say) put on a match and they have to mess it up by throwing stuff in the ring.
listen to that pop when roddy counts 3? ... ric flair never got a pop like that .. that place was jammed packed full of people ..how dare flair say hart never drew money
WCW fans got that way once the nWo was introduced and they were much more alive then a WWE crowd. Can't believe you would piss and moan about a WCW crowd... you would probably shit your pants if u saw an ECW crowd. fag.
Yes they were more alive than the WWF crowd, but that doesn't justify throwing trash at these guys does it? At the time guys like Hart, Hogan, Nash and Hall were better than most WWE stars so that means they should be pelted with the bloody tampons of the southerners? If anything they should be given more respect (heel or no heel these athletes don't deserve having litter thrown at them). Also I have seen the ECW crowd they are all trash anyway. fag
@20tweed06 Very well said. ECW fans are the shit on the bottom of my shoe. They are just foul-mouthed stupid fucking idiot NYers who can only chant 3 letters and think they are cool by doing so.
wrestlemania x finish was garbage. they should have let bret make him tap out to the sharpshooter, that would have been fitting, and he deserved it for christ sake.
@MSH786 They had that be the issue on the build up but having Yokozuna fall off was dumb. It would have been where he would have been yokozuna down to pin him. At least perform one more after Yokozuna fell off.
@hbk92701 Yeah, I agree, it was a lousy ending where Bret simply pins Yokozuna 1-2-3 right after Yokozuna "slips and falls" off of the second rope, which is not even that high to begin with...LOL! Bret could've at least done something befoe he pinned him, but it probably wasn't even their fault, but the fault of the bookers, which I believe Vince Russo was the head booker at the time...LOL!
@MSH786 I think I remember he said he didn't have much left for that match after wrestling owen earlier that same night so that might of tied into the lame finish
@redhawk0329 Oh yeah, that actually makes sense, but I still think they could've had a better ending to the match because after that match, I really felt genuinely bad for Lex Luger who had also faced Yokozuna earlier in the night but lost due to disqualification or something stupid like that by the special guest referee Mr. Perfect, even though Luger had Yokozuna pinned in the middle of the ring for much longer than a 3-count!
@MSH786 WWF still wanted to push Yokozuna as being indestructible with the only way to defeat with was if he made a mistake. Same thing with Luger at Summerslam where he wins by knocking Yoko through the ropes. I forget when guys started winning clean over Yokozuna but it wasn't for quite awhile. They wanted to keep Yoko's credibility while putting the title back on Bret as well. They had big plans for him if his health hadn't gotten bad and his weight so high. In '93 he was 500, by '97, 650ish.
@smp1717 they didn't "tap out" back then. It's funny watching old WWF matches where guys are in submission holds tapping the mat like crazy, but you could only lose a match by verbally telling the ref you give up. "Tapping out" didn't make it's way into WWF until Ken Shamrock arrived in 1997 from UFC, and WWF adopted the term when people tapped out to his Ankle Lock.
while i agree that WM10 should have ended differently i dont agree that a sharpshooter would be a good call as honestly how much do you think a sharpshooter would affect someone like yoko.
Youtube has made a Bret Hart fan out of me, Durimg his reign I hated his arrogance and how he complained of being done with injustice. But now I have been able to see that he was right. Mostly everything I've watched has been him being done unfairly. So that's why I wanted to see this video. To finally see him get to win.
I always felt that the ending to Wrestlemania X was a weak finish. It didn't make Bret look like a great wrestler or deserving champion, just a lucky guy who was able to capitalize on a clumsy fat Yokozuna. It seemed more like a fluke than a legit victory, and I think Bret deserved better.
@WhiteChocolutVEVO you shut the fuck up bitch. wwe modern belts have no value thats y anyone wins it. back in the days if you won the belt you were supposed to be the best. now if your champion you champion for one brand. so shut the fuck up. Bret Hart will kick John Cena's ass for free, he wont even charge. Fukin wasteman, i bust your moms tonsils. Mutha Fukaaaaa!!!!
@WhiteChocolutVEVO listen, dude, i don't care what you think on John Cena. The point is Bret Hart has a higher ranking in WWE's 50 superstars of all time. So this actually means Bret is better. So hush your mouth. As for championship wins, lets not even go there!
@WhiteChocolutVEVO when bret one it. he became the best in wwe at the time. When Cena wins it he is only the best in Raw/Smakcdown depending on what brand he's in. There is a difference.
@WhiteChocolutVEVO u must be like 12 years old right? back then it was hard to win the tittle. iron sheik held it for 5 years in a row they didnt have it switch back n forth every pay per view like they do now thats why hart only has 5. and cena sucks da only reason hes on top is because of stupid kids like u who like it when he raps. fakest thug ever
@WhiteChocolutVEVO well...means more the way you win it...NO HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES!!...i mean seriously?? john cena its 10 times champ and now has a record'? BULLSHIT!!
@TheNewYorkSwag true, he did screw brett.. just as much as vince and hhh did.. an also just as much as bret screwed himself.. they all share some of the blame.. and now that all the fences have been mended, saying that just makes you look naive
@purplepurp07 Bret screwed nobody. He was screwed from vince because he couldnt afford to have bret on wwf so wcw bought bret hart off of his contract and paid him more. So obviously, you must be stupid because you dont know anything behind the match afterwards. go wiki it before looking like a naive
@TheNewYorkSwag lolol wow man.. wiki??? really?? thats your source?? ummmm you have a lot to learn man.. bret was asked to job that night because it was his last title defense before leaving.. he would but not to shawn.. however shawn was the other top guy.. HHH, vince, and hbk sat backstage all thinking what to do.. hhh came up with the plan.. vince allowed it.. and shawn said he would do anything for the company.. bret wanted it to be a dq so he could go out on top.. than just forfeit the belt
@TheNewYorkSwag on the next episode of raw.. however because i female wrestler took the women's belt to nitro a few years back and therew it in a trash can and set it on fire.. vince did not want bret holding on to the belt (i dont think bret would have done that, but always better to be cautious) .. soo yes they screwed bret.. but all bret had to do was job.. and he didnt want to do his job.... numerous wrestlers have any said bret should have including ted dibiase, bob holly, announcers like
@TheNewYorkSwag jr and the king.. even bret has admitted himself that he could have handle the situation differently.. soo no matter how you look at it.. all men involved were in the wrong.. vince for screwing bret, HHH for coming up with the plan to do it, shawn for going along with it even though he knew exactly what was going on.. and also.. bret as well.. for not doing what his boss had wanted him to do.. you can believe whatever you want.. but this is the truth behind it.. face facts kid!
@TheNewYorkSwag oh and one more thing... bret and vince had a meeting just before bret decided to sign billionaire ted's contract.. vince had told bret that i dont feel bad about you leaving.. at that time wcw was raking in soooo much more money than the wwf.. soo vince basically said "hey, you deserve the money kid.. go get it." ... both men have attested to this.. it just got ugly when this issue to dropping the belt before leaving came into play
Bret Shawn and Taker made that whole sequence so believable even at 22 it still looks real. Even better the way Bret arogantly looks at Shawn as he counts the 3.l Love it.
Flair was booked to win the belt but someone played politics * DON'T YOU GUYS BLAME HOGAN BECAUSE AT THIS TIME HE LEFT THE COMPANY *. Lol @ The Undertaker rolling his eyes in dismay, I feel your pain. Some of the WWF title victories of Bret hart wasn't planned for him. 1997-2001 some of the worst years of the WWF.
Of course,Bret Hart's first title win had come as a surprise to me at the time I saw this or heard about it because it seemed so sudden after him losing the I-C Title to the British Bulldog a month and a half prior. He wasn't supposed to get a main event push so soon.
Winning the World Title on Prime Time Wrestling!!! How rare!... would be comparable today to a title changing hands on SuperStars or the Cleveland Browns winning the Super Bowl
priceless! I have to admit I didn't fully appreciate him back in the day because I liked guys like Hogan who could barely wrestle at all, but looking back there's no doubt that Bret was truly the excellence of execution and probably the greatest of all time
@salman12341234 What the hell are you talking about? If you knew anything about what happened in 1997, Bret agreed to lose the title but not in Montreal. He had some creative control clauses in his contract as well. Vince, Shawn, and Bret all agreed to let Bret keep the title in survivor series but lose it on Raw. Plus, McMahon told him to go to the WCW so he could get his due pay since the WWF was losing badly to WCW. Vince then went against the agreement and gave the match to HBK and...
@megamanxvi - Yeah WWF was losing a ton of money at the time. Ironically, a few months later the WWF brings in Mike Tyson for a few appearances for $4,000,000. (rough guess)
@salman12341234 HBK knew that was going to happen as He and Vince talked about it with Earl Hebner (referee of the match) Vince and HBK screwed Bret, Bret did nothing wrong.
i think the hitman would be a great heel, if he put his heart into it. problem was, hbk was right, in his mind, he thought it was all his, and wouldnt play by the rules.
This is great. I've got 3 signed copies of Bret's Bio. I met him at a book signing at the National Press Club in Washington, DC 2008 and a Ring of Honor Show in New York City in 2009.
Bret Hart definetly was the Best too bad the WWE is too stupid to keep him around longer instead they have a bunch of fags attacking everybody.WWE won't be getting one fucking penny from me until they get rid of this Nexus shit.
@Hacksaw2k Me, I was there brother, but it wasn't my toilet paper.
That was an amazing moment! My seats in the ACC (Air Canada Centre) were so close, Bret and I locked eyes for a moment when he won the title and mounted the corner to appeal to the crowd. An Epic moment for me.
@Hacksaw2k though I highly doubt this is the case, perhaps the TP was meant to be a sort of streamer which is considered a high sign of respect in Japan. Though I doubt that was the case lol.
The one with Flair, it was great to see Bret become champ but it just lacked something. The real great title win, happen at WMX! And as much as wcw sucked, mayhem 99 was a great bret moment!!
What I loved about Bret was how he (for the most part) made his matches believable. Even when they scripted a bullshit ending that involved cheating, he still tried to make the rest of the match as believable and sportsman like as possible. That finish with Benoit was pretty good. I haven't seen since it first aired. I forgot how good they both really were.
bret hart has the chance to be the u.s. champion again when he faces the brash and arrogant mike mizanin better known as the miz on may 17th 2010. miz knew that if he faced tyson kidd or david hart smith in that match he would lose the title and i think that his nxt rookie would be the perfect choice as guest referee in the match between bret hart and the miz. can you say "toronto screwjob because miz you will be screwed"
bret was the man although that match at wrestlemania 10 wasn't the best (yeah go ahead tell me i'm a fucken wanker, seems to be all people do on youtube)
Other Bret Hart title victories forgotten was the Survivor Series against Diesel(Kevin Nash) & a Fatal Fourway in 97 he was only champ for 1 day, beaten by Psycho Sid(Sid Vicious)
I think flair holds the record for most world titles........flair has been champion 16 times but it also makes him a 15 time loser.,.......I still love flair WOOOOOOO

@xpcmaster ya it was undertaje vs bret hart for the wwf title ar summerslam 97 with shawn michaels as the ref.. pretty much sums it up lol
purplepurp07 1 year ago
Bret Shawn and Taker made that whole sequence so believable even at 22 it still looks real. Even better the way Bret arogantly looks at Shawn as he counts the 3.l Love it.
tull06 1 year ago
Flair was booked to win the belt but someone played politics * DON'T YOU GUYS BLAME HOGAN BECAUSE AT THIS TIME HE LEFT THE COMPANY *. Lol @ The Undertaker rolling his eyes in dismay, I feel your pain. Some of the WWF title victories of Bret hart wasn't planned for him. 1997-2001 some of the worst years of the WWF.
tonshaad1230 1 year ago
Of course,Bret Hart's first title win had come as a surprise to me at the time I saw this or heard about it because it seemed so sudden after him losing the I-C Title to the British Bulldog a month and a half prior. He wasn't supposed to get a main event push so soon.

Winning the World Title on Prime Time Wrestling!!! How rare!... would be comparable today to a title changing hands on SuperStars or the Cleveland Browns winning the Super Bowl

priceless! I have to admit I didn't fully appreciate him back in the day because I liked guys like Hogan who could barely wrestle at all, but looking back there's no doubt that Bret was truly the excellence of execution and probably the greatest of all time

salman12341234 1 year ago
@salman12341234 What the hell are you talking about? If you knew anything about what happened in 1997, Bret agreed to lose the title but not in Montreal. He had some creative control clauses in his contract as well. Vince, Shawn, and Bret all agreed to let Bret keep the title in survivor series but lose it on Raw. Plus, McMahon told him to go to the WCW so he could get his due pay since the WWF was losing badly to WCW. Vince then went against the agreement and gave the match to HBK and...
megamanxvi 1 year ago
@megamanxvi - Yeah WWF was losing a ton of money at the time. Ironically, a few months later the WWF brings in Mike Tyson for a few appearances for $4,000,000. (rough guess)
ryanhitmanfury 1 year ago
@ryanhitmanfury - or was it $20,000,000?
ryanhitmanfury 1 year ago
@salman12341234 HBK knew that was going to happen as He and Vince talked about it with Earl Hebner (referee of the match) Vince and HBK screwed Bret, Bret did nothing wrong.
megamanxvi 1 year ago
@megamanxvi not hbk only vince screw bret
salman12341234 1 year ago
@salman12341234 From my understanding, HBK admitted to screwing Bret, he knew what was happening

i think the hitman would be a great heel, if he put his heart into it. problem was, hbk was right, in his mind, he thought it was all his, and wouldnt play by the rules.
jfizzay 1 year ago
@jfizzay
Dude he started as heel, and ended as a heel - Hart Foundation? was a superior heel.
