@Leeford88 That doesn't make remote sense. That comment could be dismantled in so many ways across the board. The WRITER deserves credit and recognition. The VERSION is subjective. Coming from a songwriter that has had his tunes ripped off for a commercial. This version "in my opinion" is better.
Good point. He was with Jeff Ament, but they didn't dance. It's too bad, because it was when they were in town recording the VS. album. Jeff Ament was still jumping around all crazy back in those days. That would have been something to see at a Prince concert. But he just stood there the whole show.
No, this is a rendition. No corny, shitty 80's sound - just the melody, which Prince wrote so well. But this is like Johnny Cash covering Soundgarden.
I'm surprised the purple one hasn't forced it down yet, though, considering how he hates anybody coming within ten feet of his music unless they're BUYING it!

Definitely not for the original 1999 party crowd which made the original a #1 dance hit back in 1983. This version puts me a sleep ...zzzz. I am surprised that Prince or Warner has not pull the video. They have done so for far lesser crimes. At least remove the audio. Pleeeeeeeease.

I really thought it sounded silly. I don't think anyone else would get away with this. Gossard's connection to a famous band is what opens this door. He should do a version of The Hokey Pokey next. It'll go platinum. Whatever.
I firstly listened to Stone's version, only after it found Prince's & although prefer the originals, this cover tunes in for me much more. I also enjoyed the mood of this video
A little Shawn Smith has rubbed of onto Stone? This is awesome, and I ope for much of the same on his new release and the highly anticipated BRAD release!!!
STONEY!!! ha. he still looks the same from back when he was a little scroungy skinny kid up on the Hill! Love this.

I actually sat a couple rows behind Stone Gossard at a Prince concert once. So this is quite a trip for me.
