  • Prompt for Mac is the most frustrating program EVER.... every file is rejected on import (even their half assed work around of prompt helper is worthless).... the inability to simply copy and paste text make this product worthless.... their is no customer support and quite honestly, it's a rip off. I spent good money buying the full fledged software and regret it completely.

  • @mpitre72 Try Mirrorscript - it is also free and available for Windows and Mac. Search google for it and you'll find it.

  • How do you handle a long script? Are there software programs that will roll the text up the screen?

  • @TaoMannaDon There are free teleprompter programs that work with Windows which automatically scroll the text as you read. You can even control the speed of the control with the software or with the mouse.

If you search google for 'free teleprompter software', you'll find several excellent programs you can use for free

  • Bill,

Why did you render this in standard def? Keep up the wonderful how-tos!!! Love it! ~Clinton

  • @ColoradoVistas Because I recorded the video almost 4 years ago . . . and HD wasn't yet common-place on YouTube. All my newer videos are HD widescreen.

  • what if you cant read?

  • Thought it is important to clarify some of this info. An SVGA signal can only by connected to a computer monitor, not a TV

TV: accepts a TV signal through an antennae or TV cable. A TV cannot display a video signal or a computer signal

video monitor: accepts an analog video signal provided by certain pieces of equipment, such as a VCR, DVD player, video camera

computer monitor: accepts an analog or digital computer signal of specific resolutions and frequencies, such as VGA, SVGA, XVGA

  • @amachinery I have 4 TVs in my home. All have VGA connections. Most flat screen TVs sold today CAN display both TV and Computer signals.

  • @amachinery what all tv's o know pf have vga dvi or hdmi and computers also have one or all of them

    vga analog

    dvi digital

    hdmi digital

  • bill can you make a tutorial of how to add a picture or another video on an existing video

  • @simpsoncheat I've already done that. Find it on YouTube at 'Video overlay in Sony Vegas Movie Studio '

  • @guerillabill

    Thank you :))

  • Hey Bill........ Learning alot from your videos.. We are in the process of making about 25 one hour DVD's this year............ Teresa

  • great video bill, thanks

  • nice green screen effects!

  • Thanks bill ! u are greaT !

  • Bill, you should have been in radio...gotta great radio voice...lol!!

  • Hi Bill - great video. And great use of one our Virtual Studio Sets!

  • @ZKad I really like the sets offered by zkad com. I recommend them often.

  • does MPEG4 on Sony Vegas? AVI makes very big size file for me(1h.20min) 8GB file and quality has got poor.. whitch format do you using when rendering videos..MPEG2 format, of 1h.20min video took 4GB size of my Hdd. I think it's to large.. but if I choise another smaller size, my videos gets more poor quality and unclear..which standard format need use for good size and best quality videos? Which setings should I set for best rendering..

  • When I render for DVD, I render using avi NTSC DV template. A 1h 20m video in avi will be 30 gig.

If rendered to mpeg 2, it will be about 4.4gig.

For smaller file size, render to WMV

  • No need to download prompting software, just use the free online easyprompter web based prompter - no word limit and works just as well.

  • @alanstarkie2001

    Thanks!

  • Yeah right, you had this whole script memorized!!! :) Love your video's.

  • this is a great help, i love your videos im only 17 but my sister is a spokes girl for Video Flyer in orlando where i live, she often trips up words but not she shouldnt!

shes gonna love this! thanks bill!

  • The "free teleprompter software" is hard to find on your site, Bill.

    How about a link?

    Thanks.

  • Search google for 'free teleprompter software' and you'll find several different programs you can use

  • Ultra Prompter is best ...

  • is there a lead i can buy that has two diffrent ends because the one that goes into my computar is smaller than the one that goes into my tv

  • these videos are brilliant!

  • Bill,

I notice that you used the video studio background footage in several of your videos. Is that fottage available in one of your DVD's? If not, can you direct me to where I can acquire it so I can use it for some of my own videos? Thanks...and thanks especially for posting all these tutorial videos. They are the best!

  • Great! can do you do with with Adobe communicaotor?

  • You can use any text scrolling program.

And you can find free teleprompter software on my site

  • duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • How did you get the computer and stuff in front of you, are they real?

  • The computer monitor to my right is real, the video monitors behind me are added using Chromakey

  • Haha, your accent is so funny, but you're the best. You really know your stuff!

  • Bill, you definitely have the voice!!!

  • how do you add that title template?.... in the video can it be done in Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.0?

    Please and Thank you..

  • That title template is from Visual Communicator 3 software. But you can find and use similar ones in Sony Vegas and Movie Studio

  • Hi there Bill - SO glad I came across your channel! Absolutely fantastic tutorials! Please keep 'em coming!

  • can u watch my video response and comment with help?

  • hey bill i have a question at 0:10when the banner comes up with your name and your website, how did you do that and get that banner?

    Thanks,

    Ben

  • I used Visual Communicator for this tutorial, and the lower third graphic with my name on it, is found in one of the Visual Communicator production templates.

  • was it free?

  • The production templates are included with Visual Communicator.

But Visual Communicator is not free, it is over $300 from Adobe.

  • ohh

    that stinks

thats way out of my budget

  • My laptop now has a HDMI plug, and I use a LONG HDMI cord to my HD FLAT SCREEN, and for my PC - I am using the VGA cord.. (PIP) Dual Sony Vegas 8.1 Vegas 64bit Screens!!

  • Thanks for the tip. HDMI to a flat screen will make for a great teleprompter.

  • This is nice free software. However, it is difficult to use if you are trying to create your own video. Setting the right speed of the crawl of the text is difficult to adjust.

In addition, every retake you have to go mess with the computer to restart it.

It is so much easier with a helper.

  • Read it aloud to your self until you find the right speed for the settings. Yes if it is playing to fast you will know. Some have settings to detect your voice and will move on like a Karaoke machine would do.

  • hey bill if you could ..could you tell me how to narrirate in sony vegas 8 pro thanks so much

  • Connect a microphone to your computer. Put your mouse in an audio track in Vegas at the position you want the narration to begin.

Click the 'bullseye' icon in the audio track, this will arm Vegas to record audio.

Click to record. Click the bulls eye icon to stop recording.

Recording audio will show up as a file in your media pool.

  • Thanks bill i actually found out hot to do it before you told me lol but i appreciate it..i also have another question but ill message you it

  • Wow! I had no idea you could do that. You're brilliant. Thanks so much.

  • Thank you Bill for the wonderful tip!!

  • and it turns out you're also from arkansas!

  • your voice sounds like al gore's :)

  • Thanks again, thanks very much bill !!

  • THANKS FOR THE TIP

  • thanks alot

  • Whats the name of the of Baroque song at the end? Thanks Bill.

  • J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto

  • couldn't you just put a laptop underneath your camcorder???

  • Sure. And it would help to have teleprompter software, and a remote mouse so you could control the speed of the feed.

And a large laptop screen so you could read the text from 12 to 15 feet away.

  • Thank You so much !!!!! i have been watching all your videos allot of good excellent information !!! thanks !!!

  • LOL. I Though It Said "Low Cost Teleporter".

  • If you find one of those, let me know!

  • lol

  • i need a one

  • No! Don't use the Low Cost Teleporters! I did and it messed up and teleported me to a women's prison! It took me weeks to escape. Well...Ok technically they kicked me out,but still the cheap teleporter only worked one-way!

  • I wonder if there is a freeware teleprompter software that uses voice-recognition from any microphone connected to the computer to adjust the scrolling speed of the text on the screen.

    Thanks for the cool tips.

  • There may be voice controlled teleprompter software, I don't know.

I do know that most teleprompter software, even the free versions, allow you pause or continue using the mouse - which you can control with your hand offscreen.

  • Always enjoy your DVDs Bill. Looking forwward to new content from you.

  • I like to use DirectPrompt. Its really cheap software, and makes a DIY teleprompter extremely easy to make. It supports dual monitor with mirrored text and super smooth scrolling.

  • If you don't have a plasma/LCD TV, then this teleprompter is going to be pretty expensive.

  • Actually, you can use an old computer monitor, or if you video card has a svideo out, almost any tv.

  • Hey Bill, I thought you were doing that show "Now" on PBS...

  • very informative and low cost

  • this intro title is better than other title made with paint shop

  • Hi Bill,

I did a search for 'teleprompter' and the result is my video post. Do you have advice on running subtitles in Sony Vegas?

  • OMG the picture quality is amazing!

  • 5 stars!

  • you make great videos
