Heh. I'm surprised I know what you're talking about, but yes, there is a popular youtube video where they set off a bob-omb. After eating the candy, they stuffed they thing with gun powder. No, I don't recommend it.
I have the more recent Bob-omb candy. It's cool, but the key seems like it's gonna break off. So if you decide to open it up, be careful with the key.

there are stars and mushroom also. the key on the 2010 bomb-ombs breaks waaay to eaisly so be careful
