I saw Bob Wootton in Glasgow last year, and am seeing him again this year. The guy is as close as you will get now to seeing Johnny Cash live, he tells stories and banters with the audience much the way Johnny did in his lifetime. Bob and his family plus his excellent double bass player and drummer are extremely talented and well worth seeing live.
I'm a big fan of Johnny Cash's. Here Bob Wootton is keeping the Man in Black tradition alive. I still can't believe how much he sounds like Johnny Cash!
This was AWESOME..!! Loved this tribute to Johnny Cash. You do him very proud and if he's listening he probably did a double take himself...LOL Wonderful listen and I thank my sweet friend Terry for sharing this with me.
Bob got to listen to Johnny sing more than anyone else alive. I think he did a passable job of it. MY question is the "Tennessee Three". The TWO were Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant with Wootton coming in after Luther passed. If that's WS on the drums and he looks old enough to be, then it STILL would be the Tennessee TWO or at LEAST the Tennessee Two out of Three.
Nice job keeping the music alive Bob. I'm sure Johnny would be proud!
Hi we found your videos today and James Jr wanted to put a post to say he really enjoyed yours and Scarlette's videos very much, like you and his dad(James) he also plays the guitar and sings. I tell him he gets that from his father along with his looks. He is and awesome kid James would be proud of him.
To me, he sounds more like a cross between Ernest Tubb and Junior Brown and resembles an older Bob Luman (had Luman actually lived to grow older) than he does Johnny Cash.
This is perfect and it is very much because Johnny's original drummer W.S. Holland (the first rock'n'roll drummer ever). Today Holland run his own band, The New Tennesee Three. I think he could have stayed with Bob Wootton for more years, but I understand very much he want his own band. W.S. Holland "is" Tennessee 3 and he will rock on forever!
In John's autobiography he said he was offered the song 'City of New Orleans' but Luther couldn't figure out the chords. If Bob would have been with the band back then John probably would have recorded the song instead of Arlo Guthrie. Even so, Luther was definitely a guitar legend!
I was surprised that Cash said that too! But the fact is that Luther had long passed on before Steve Goodman even wrote CITY OF NEW ORLEANS in mid 1969. And contrary to popular belief about his picking ability, Roger Miller once stated on the Ralph Emery TV show (shortly after Luther passed away) that Luther was a far better picker than most people thought and it was unfortunate that people got to hear that part of his playing.
HAHAHAHA jesus look at him at 1:09 doesn't he look a bit like Johnny Cash, I mean the sharp nose and the way he moves the mouth (Johnny moved his mouth a little to the side when he sang)
You need to hear Jackson Cash if you think this is good.....I am not saying this is not good but I know who is better....Find Jacksons Myspace to listen....You will be impressed

Bob, you sound great. There's a little of that Man In Black vibe in you and it does honour his legacy.

From what I understand, Bob is not trying to impersonate The Man. I commend Bob in keeping Johnny's music alive. He does a fantastic job!
