Tinny... i posted in a video a (long) while ago to experiment with the same idea of the workings of a kerosene lamp. Back then i don't think you were working with carbon felt or you had just started working with it. The idea would be more wick=more flame to boil water, and of course less wick=less flame for simmering. If you can get it to work i think it'd be very versatile for various meals. Have a great day!

Hey Tinny, It is amazing to me that while the vast majority of us see alcohol as a means to an end: hot food on the trail, you see alcohol as an entre' into a wonderful world of innovation and invention. I love how you mind works, oh and I am so envious of your shop!!
If you lowered the top ring wouldn't there be less heat transfer? Meaning have the ring in the middle of the support legs, then just have three legs going up to the pot.?
I guess it would be difficult to assemble, because of the peening? What if you had the legs thicker in the middle and skinner at the top, so then you slide the top support ring it would slide down till where it gets thicker and kinda friction fit?

Just a thought, would a layer of silicon on the bottom side of the disc reduce the amount of heat being transferred to the stove body enough to overcome the pressure issue caused by excess gasification? It would also overcome the need to preheat the disc before you place it on top of the stove.
It's really cool to see all the r&d that goes into a product that looks so simple at first glance. I don't know if you account for that in your price, but thanks for showing it either way, it's really interesting.

Jest an idear.....why not drill a few holes in Stumpy's slipped disc. Kinda funny
in a way, I am kinda stumpy and have 4 slipped discs at the last count......
