  • Actually, MuppetWiki states that this is from episode 44, at this time Sesame Street has already reached 1970, hence the fact that the show first aired in November 10, 1969.

  • This was always a neat skit. You just have to grin and "bear" it.

  • Wocka! Wocka!

  • Yeah, you might say he Kermit's really "em-"bear"-assing" himself. Ha, ha, ha, ha!!!

  • Harry is either a sloth bear or a himlayan black bear one of them. George is a grizzly.

  • A Himalayan black bear.

  • Actually, he's a Spectacled Bear, the only bear species in South America.

  • @DanaAbel30

I did not know that they had any types of bears in South America. Thank you for the information!

  • @Smartboy8877 No problemo.

  • Awesome! I remember this one from thirty years ago. I had totally forgotten about it.

  • Kermit certainly did a great job of getting the bear to do some exercises, don't you think?

  • never tell a bear we'll have lunch later. :P

  • Except if the lunch will be wild "bear"-ries.

  • Sloth bears I think

  • Wow! Kermit teaching aerobics in 1969! It is really too bad that kids are missing out on the benefits of physical education and exercise. Overall this is very very cool!

  • Somehow I'm amazed that they sort of tried physical fitness in '69 and it looked more fun and interesting than the PC stuff they probably do on SS these days. (that and its Kermit in front of a screen with bears :p)

  • My friends, this could be the first footage of The Muppets using Chroma-Key.

  • I laughed when one of the animals yawned & Kermit said,"Yeesh...what bad breath!"

  • Yes, that line is what sticks out in my memory the most. When I saw the title for this clip, I thought 'Does this clip involve Kermit saying that?' Sure enough, it does! Still able to remember SOME things after nearly 30 years!

  • me too :D

  • Bears are remarkable creatures. Great clip starring Kermit and some zoo footage of bears.

  • NICE clip. I saw some grizzly bears, and spectacled bears in there.

  • "Look, daddy, it's a bear!"

"No, honey, that's a frog. Bears wear hats."

  • Hey, it's "bear"-ly possible.

  • And later, Kermit would be teamed up with a regular bear. Fozzie!

  • Cute how they got the bear waiving good bye on film for the end of this. This has always been a cute skit, thanks as always for these great finds!

  • I'm sure there was some off camera trainer there when the film was made.

  • This definitely from one of the very first episodes ever. I remember this one. I love it when Kermit goes, "how did George get lunch?"

  • @trppey66 "How did George get lunch?" still makes me laugh out loud! I love it!

  • "Alright Harry, you can have lunch later... Okay, George, are you doin' this?...George?? Listen, George, these exercises are fun! Now come on..."

LOL, pure classic! Thanks so much for digging this up.

  • Wow,that's old!

  • It sure is.

  • I don't know what episode this clip is taken from. Can you help me?

  • It's from show 2754. At least, that's where my copy came from.
