  • I have the same question about using more than one whole house filters. Could you put two of those filters in line, say one more porous filter to catch large sediment, then a less porous filter down stream to catch the smaller stuff?

My issue is that a porous filter will last longer but wont catch enough of the iron contaminated water, but the less porous filters that will catch all that stuff get plugged up too quickly with large sediment.

  • I just discovered your videos and I think they are incredibly well done and very helpful. This discussion about water filters answered some of my questions, but I wanted to know if using a more porous filter (as suggested in one of the posted comments) to extend the time between filter changes allows sediment to get into the house plumbing and fixtures? I seem to be changing my filter every 2-4 week now. Any thoughts about the suggestion made by "proverb311031" to add a 2nd filter?

  • @wcchss6 Yes adding a more porous filter will prevent you from having to clean the whole house filter more often, however you will end up occasionally having to deal with clogged washing machine hoses and faucet filter screens.

  • how does the water go down into the filter and back up the same pipe?

  • @theorganicfreak Water comes into the filter from the supply line and goes out another pipe to source the house with filtered water.

  • Great Video thank you for uploading. The filter set up in this video raised a question that i have received mixed reviews on ?.You have 1 filter in this video. Can 2 or 3 of those plastic filter housings be used 1 for sediments 1 for to remove chlorine and another for whatever. Would 3 filters cause pressure issues to your knowledge. NOTE: all my plumbing is pex with shark bite connects 1/2 pex. I was also told i need 1" pipe from main to filter system? thank you in advance Danny :)

  • Great vid but when u turned the water back on to the filter u did it a little to fast which isn't good for the plumbing in the house but besides that great vid

  • I have a new water filter just like this one and sense then we have had nothing but problems.every few weeks our water will stop working we change the filter and it starts working again but we have no water pressure if you use the toilet and then try to take a shower its not going to happen we would have to wait 10mins to have enough pressure to even have a shower.i have well water but i also have a water softener and we keep salt in it.How often should you have to change a filter like this?

  • We change ours about every 6 weeks or so. It really depends upon how dirty the filter cartridge is getting. It sounds as if you have a high level of sediment being pumped up from the well pump and clogging the filter. I suggest you try changing the filter every couple of weeks based on your situation. You may also want to try another type of cartridge. Possibly use one that is more porous.

  • @cmtb8202 maybe you need a second pre-filter make the first filter 10 microns and the next one even smaller, if you are asking one filter to do the job you are asking far too much of it!
