@IceWolf1102 Actually, that's not a glitch or anything. What you're seeing is exactly what is happening. The fps (frame per second) capture of the camera is perfectly timed with the rotation of the wheel. So every time the camera takes a frame, the holes are at the same place as they were on the previous frame. The wheel can spin at only a fraction of the fps of the camera, it doesn't really matter.
@Semitruckman101 Gone down that mountain a lot meself and there ain't no way you can go down it fast unless, you're empty or you'd like the emergency guys to come unstrangle you from a toll booth,
@IceWolf1102 Frame rate of the video is at such a speed that the tire is always in the same place when the frames are taken so it looks like they are not moving.
@IceWolf1102 Its an illusion, when the wheels spin a certain speed, it creates the illusion that they are not spinning. they also at a certain speed look like they are spinning backwards. Its weird but kinda neat.
@IceWolf1102 When the wheel speed matches the shutter speed of the camera the wheels will look frozen. As the wheel speed gets faster than the shutter speed the wheels will actually start to look like they are rotating backwards. Optical illusion case by shutter speed.
@IceWolf1102 Video is captured at 32 fps. If the wheels are moving at just the right speed they are in the exact same spot on every picture making it look like the wheels arent moving. This happens alot, thats why the old horse dawn buggys look like the wheels are going backwards on film and things of that nature.
the difference is on the compression stroke. Air is compressed to approximately 500PSI by the engine piston. The energy required to compress this air is produced by the vehicle's driving wheels. Near top dead center, the Jacobs Engine Brake opens the exhaust valves, venting the high pressure air and dissipating the stored energy through the exhaust system.
On the downward stroke, essentially no energy is returned to the piston (and to the driving wheels). There is a loss of energy. This loss is how the retarding work is done.
yeah sure thing mate. many people get a exhaust n jake mixed up. a jake brake brings the compression out of the cylinders to create a vacume to slow a diesel down, a gas car does it with throttle let off. a exhaust brake cuts off flow and sucks in, commonly found on the 6.7l dodge cummins, hoped this helped, thanks.
That's a beautiful mountain pass. How steep and long is the grade?
Every jake I ever had was muffled.
One thing a mechanic used to tell me was that when drivers thought the jake was ineffective, he would punch a hole in the muffler with a screwdriver so it'd get a litttle louder and the driver happier.
crap, they drive on the wrong side of the road down under. it would be a hell of a job to fix that. not imposible i think. want one of these, must figure out something.
Yep, the Argosy is still going strong here in NZ, much like the K104B and K108 Kenworths as well, as well as a tonne of R580 and R620 Scanias, seems cabovers are more popular than ever over here.

an engine compression brake that closes the valves in an engine in order to slow the vehicle (ie an engine retarder)
100000014 2 years ago
Jake brake refers to the brand name
"Jacob's Engine Retarder Brake"
After the compression stroke, as the fuel is ignited,
before the power stroke, the exhaust valves are
opened by a electric solenoid actuated oil pressure
powered piston. Instead of allowing the combustion
to push the piston downward, the energy is vented
out the exhaust. As there is no power stroke,
the compression stroke provides acts to slow the engine.

freightliner make it. they r owned by damlier chrystler and r made in canada somewhere

The Argosy is made in Cleveland, Ohio. The Freightliner Plant in St. Thomas, Ontario makes the Sterling truck line, a subsidiary of Freightliner.

argosy still being made?.

I don't know. One website for Freightliner still has Argosy listed but the Daimler Trucks North America site does not.
