MAJOR SPOILER: Oyashiro does exist but in a different way... Right off the bat Oyashiro is a girl about the same age as Rika Farude. Her name is Hanyuu, she is a powerless god who sacrificed herself to save Hinamizawa. Hanyuu does not curse however the deaths are all caused by the Hinamizawa Syndrome

(which is what the people of Himamizawa are all affected by there calling it Oyashiro's curse). High stages of the disease will cause paranoia, and you can feel Hanyuu's presence.
