@jdubincali the reason we aren't "energy independant" is because it is a strategic asset, the idea is that when the world begins to run out of fuel (not going to happen) we will still have all of ours. its an old policy based around the idea that we will run out soon, and it has become clear that that simply won't happen. However, the policy most likely won't change. for the record im voting for ron as well.
I don't understand what part of "you currently pay state tax plus a 15% (lowest income) federal tax" that they aren't understanding. The only difference in Cain's "apples and oranges" is that those people would pay 9% national & the current state tax instead of 15%(or higher) and the state tax. It's still less. Bachmann is supposed to be a tax lawyer and she can't understand that?
@DontFriendInviteMe the point is the lowest wage earners(those WITH jobs) spend the vast majority of their income so they are paying federal income tax(9% with cains plan) plus whatever state income tax(1-3% probably) then they are paying state and local sales tax (6-8% generally) on top of the 9% federal sales tax cain propsed, meaning they are being taxed 10-12% before they get their money and then 13-15% of what they have to spend to live. That doesn't count all the other taxes people pay
@D0NGZ1LLA They do not pay "the vast majority of their income" on taxes. 1st of all, their INCOME tax is a considerably smaller amount. You don't pay that sales tax on your mortgage, utility bills, etc. Over half of what we pay monthly are not products/items that would have that sales tax applied. We use an average of 1/4 of our total income purchasing things, but we go from 15% and up, to 9% on that payroll tax, gaining at least $180 mo.

@D0NGZ1LLA Actually, he said mortgages on NEW homes. If you google Cain speaking on this subject, the issue of buying new vs. used homes & vehicles have already been addressed. The average earner will still bring home more pay than they will spend in new goods. I've done the math on my own wages vs. spending and I come out up $300 in taxes, spending about $130 in sales taxes, leaving me $170 ahead each month.

I don't understand what part of "you currently pay state tax plus a 15% (lowest income) federal tax" that they aren't understanding. The only difference in Cain's "apples and oranges" is that those people would pay 9% national & the current state tax instead of 15%(or higher) and the state tax. It's still less. @DontFriendInviteMe the point is the lowest wage earners(those WITH jobs) spend the vast majority of their income so they are paying federal income tax(9% with cains plan) plus whatever state income tax(1-3% probably) then they are paying state and local sales tax (6-8% generally) on top of the 9% federal sales tax cain propsed, meaning they are being taxed 10-12% before they get their money and then 13-15% of what they have to spend to live. That doesn't count all the other taxes people pay

You don't pay that sales tax on your mortgage, utility bills, etc. Over half of what we pay monthly are not products/items that would have that sales tax applied. We use an average of 1/4 of our total income purchasing things, but we go from 15% and up, to 9% on that payroll tax, gaining at least $180 mo.

The average earner will still bring home more pay than they will spend in new goods. I've done the math on my own wages vs. spending and I come out up $300 in taxes, spending about $130 in sales taxes, leaving me $170 ahead each month.

@DontFriendInviteMe so i looked a few more things up for you social taxes (medicare/SS) and income taxes accounted for 90% of total federal revenues in 2010 or 1.8 Trillion Dollars roughtly, that figure still left us 1.2 Trillion dollars under expenditures, you're actually telling me that 999 will not only lower taxes for everyone but will also raise the same amount of money? id LOVE to know how that works, but lets just say that its true, just for the giggles, youre ok with a 1.2T deficit??

@D0NGZ1LLA Those WITHOUT jobs will soon be finding jobs once the regulations are removed, taxes are lowered on production & wholesaling, and businesses are making money again, allowing them to expand and hire again. This will not only save people a few bucks, but it will cut MAJORLY on govt. spending to support the IRS, and have more people earning instead of sponging off of the earners while they struggle.

@DannyRuel mate...the sun isn't what's depleting the ozone of O2. to say there is no correlation between increasing carbon levels since the dawn of industrialization and the present is to deny what is scientifically true. carbon is dirty energy and in burning it, the particulates are released into the atmosphere. i will watch your video, but these grim developments are very real.

Im always skeptical when something becomes like this becomes like a damn religion and people refuse to listen to other scientists in order to keep the Money flowing in. If you believe that Global Warming is real, then you should pay the carbon taxes that are coming into play. And the New Green Police that are destroying farms because sheep farts are destroying ozone is pure sheep manure.

So who are these 47% who pay NO taxes? Those in Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Group Homes? Everyone who lives pays taxes EVERY time they buy a bit of food or a gallon of gas. Everyone Pays Taxes unless they are elderly!

@Zalahblue elderly pax taxes too - Social Security income IS taxed, elderly pay tax on gasoline too. I think they are saying that 47% pay no INCOME taxes because they receive earned income credits for low earners which cancels taxes, etc.

Have you heard about Rent Tax and some sort of Tax we'd have to pay which would include paying for Police meals and all their gas etc etc..? Someone explained it like this: Every Resident of Houston would be tax regardless of income 9% and ALL that money would go directly to the IRS. U heard of that?

@Zalahblue we all pay sales tax but Herman Cain is talking about Federal Tax code .With Cain's plan I heard him in an interview admit his 999 plan would tax services including food (not taxed now in my state )rent ,mortgage, the sale of a house(huge tax) I'm not sure if the $would go directly to the IRS , but they would get it in the long run because it would no longer come directly out of our paychecks. Cain makes it look like its just 999 but we'd still pay state tax,property tax &more

If you are not already a registered Republican &live in a closed primary state , U MUST reg Repub to vote for him in the primary - if U are a Dem or Indep , you cant vote in the primary in closed primary states .I'm sticking with Ron to the end no matter what - he's the one with integirty, consistent voting record and I love that he will end the decade long wars that have destroyed lives, our economy&our country .
