Couldnt agree with you more about the amount of string quartets and choirs, AND sudden loud bangs and effects, all the music scores sound simular to me in these post modern horror films. The music score is a VERY important part of a film, maybe thats one of reasons the older horror films made more of an impact on me than the new ones, (only one reason though, 70's early 80s' horror films will never be beaten in my book lol)
Both the film and music industry is becoming more and more formulated as time goes on. and artists with originality are finding it harder and harder to get funding from an industry with 0 vision, integrity, or substance.
No-one ever makes music for movies like this anymore. Such a shame.

Waiting death and The reprise are some of the best Goblin tracks ever. Argento's movies are always so funky! Thank you for sharing with the world!

This excellent music creates a satisfying shiver down my spine.

I'd have to say Tenebre (Reprise) is my favorite track from the soundtrack. The music is used so damn effectively in the film too.

Tenebre is timeless!!!

I have the Reprise version on my MP3 player.

Now that's a great tune!
Why can't horror movies today have great soundtracks like this, or suspiria's or profondo's?
realeimperobritannic 3 years ago 3
I dunno. Times are changing... for the worst.
Good scores are still being made but in my opinion they use way too much string quartets and choirs these days. Not everything is THAT epic!

Goblin should teach horror composers these days how it's done right!

The quality of horror films decreased simultaneously with the quality of hit music. There has to be a connection.

I agree. The connection?...Money.
