  • PERFECT VIDEO - I can now clearly see each minute step of the turn and release. Thank you so much. Don't you just love to hear all these 100' throwers criticizing the technique of someone like Brian Oldfield. GET AS MANY MEDALS AS THIS MAN HAS AND THEN YOU CAN CRITICIZE HIS TECHNIQUE. Otherwise, be quiet and respectful.

  • Virgilijus Alekna from Russia has best form!

  • @Zakariah1971 Russia?

  • I went to John Powell's throwing camp a while back. Brian was there. The years have not been kind too him. But he made up for it by getting drunk, driving his car drunk around campus, driving me drunk around campus and just generally being one of the funniest motherfuckers I have ever met.

  • How far did he throw in average in these throws?

  • he almost scratched it in last two throws

  • 300 feet LOL, actually he could have converted easily to discus but as a world class shotputter he was already fully occupied, if he loosened up the left arm and blocked a bit more and of coursed practised practised practised he could have thrown 230 feet, maybe, but 260?

  • lol he throws from a foot off the ground haha

  • whatt???

  • At his release he is not on the ground. he is in the air. that means hes not putting all his power into the throw.

  • Watch Kanter he does that to... but yeah I agree it's justhes leggs and hipsthat goes in the throw

  • The 'stories' fo Oldfield throwing the disc 255 or 260 are all total BS. If he could throw 260, then he could go half-ass through the ring and throw 220 easily, not the 204 meet pr.

  • distance?

  • around 200 feet

  • the way he holds the discus and turns the first full rotation looks exactly like Al Oerter

  • his form is not that great compared to most world class discus throwers. I think most of his distance came from his strength. If you look at it, the top throwers all have huge standing throws, with their spin adding a small percentage of the total distance to the throw

  • thats not that true for discus for shot somewhat but some pros can get like 12or more feet from there spin which is huge in shot.

  • I threw against him as a 23 year old youngster. He wasn't that strong actually, a latecomer to weights. He had a gift of enormously explosive speed and power.

  • oldfields techinque is that bad. it doesn't look pretty but it's effectiv. he has wide right in the back, he keeps the discus back and throws the hips into hard. thats pretty good discus techinque to me.

  • hello i just started to throw the discus at my highschool and my ocach was never reall a thrower so either some good rferences or tips in general would be nice ill put up a video for some help later

  • He is Amazing!!! So graceful

  • i thing his pr was only right over 200. he was mostly a shotput guy, and also a notorious fouler. i have heard thatg he has hurled the discus out at 260 but blowing out of the ring. still pretty impressive though.

  • NICE!!!

  • those were some nice looking throws. do you know his PR in discus?

  • probably somewhere close to 230'

  • yeah they looked way out there. that would only pin my PR by about 123 ft. haha.

  • Oldfield's web site says his discus PR

    is 204.

  • I could learn a lot from this guy.

  • B E A utiful

  • niceeeeeeee

  • JNICE!!!
