my first who song...45 rpm...maybe not the alltime best mastrubation themed song, that would probably be CAPTAIN JACK , by billy joel....actually a very passable rock song, especially for joel
Right, Lily Langtry - part of the slightly sordid joke is that the dad was passing on his totally antique erotica (do a google image search & see), but the clueless horny son fixated on these PG-rated images anyway - and yes, choking the chicken is implicit in the story set-up but it's never mentioned, Townsend leaves that to your imagination ;^)
It's NOT about Lily Cole ... It is about Lillie Langtry ... the song says she's been dead since 1929! His father gives him the pictures of Lillie ... Lillie Langtry was a focus of male fantasy during the Victorian era. Born 13 October 1853 – Died12 February 1929.
@PETEtownsend19 Your user name says pete townsend, but your comment makes me think you live in an alternative world where pete townsend is actually george harrison or someone else from those days.
There's a possibility that it wasn't Pete playing the organ. If it really was "live" at the BBC, someone else (perhaps Nicky Hopkins) might have played it. That is, unless the organ part was overdubbed later.
BBC sessions werent always live as such...artists usually had a chance for a few rehearsals and a couple of overdubs...couldve been Nicky but Pete had rudimentary keyboard skills ...actually i didnt notice the organ till i saw your post!

Masturbation is one thing, but the organ on this version is an obnoxious little pecker.

@Rikitocker
Or it could've been Lily St. Cyr a famous stripper from the 50's if you want to add another Lily.

Thank God in heaven that these BBC radio sessions did'nt suffer the same fate as most of the video performances from "Top Of The Pops".

The vocals are pretty good here. In fact it sounds a lot better than the Monterey version. One of their greatest songs.

Nicky Hopkins, I could see that, that's of course if Mick Jagger let him out of his cage.

Well, he played his organ at night.
