Sweetsingeruk - I lived on the Ferrier for 12 years. Left in the mid 80's before it started deteriorating. Do not fool yourself about the place and the environment. It is being torn down and long overdue
Sweetsingeruk yes I did I was one of the first people to move in on the "new" side of the estate in 1973. Yes you are right, it wasn't that bad when I grew up there in the 70's and 80's but it turned badly in the 90's - so you don't think the GLC made a mistake? You're joking right? Why do you think it's being torn down? Because it's a concrete jungle. It was supposed to be an ideal place but the council moved problem families there. When it was first built it was great but now looks like a dump
This video tells me that the GLC made a mistake - a BIG mistake. The Ferrier Estate was one of the biggest mistakes ever seen in London. The colour of the brick did not age well and with rain erosion and decay the Ferrier Estate looked awful. I use the past tense because it is being demolished. Good luck with this new experiment called Kidbrooke Village
@turntellydown did you live on the Ferrier, ever... just asking...? It was never just a bunch of grey buildings to the people who lived there. It was home to a large, diverse community, with a lively, yet village-like atmosphere. Everyone said hello to everyone else, whether they knew them or not... and so on... Ugly yes, but not a mistake.
the offical ghetto of south east london man if u go to da deep side of the ferrier u will get stabed no matter what i know cuz my 8 yr cuz used to live there know he moved to blackheath
kidbrooke /ferrier u gotta be kiddin mate pull it down and start again includin the school i appriciate the ideal but lets be serious u got kids there on thier 5 offence at the age of 12, i know of 1 in particular who put a 25yr old in hospital with a hammer for 'dissin my name man ' it aint safe
the place is full of scagheads and wasters ..and before u start i used to live there but had the good sense to emigrate ...i live on the pacific coast of Aus now
So planting trees and flowers resolves the amount of crime that goes on there? When it's all finished, leave it a week and check it. I bet you there is tons of graffiti and the flowers have all been stepped on and the place is back to it's original state.
This is complete insanity, you can't change the nature of a place like kidbrooke in this way. All this does is shift the problems somewhere else to make way for a half-hearted fantasy world which'll never be fully achieved and once again become a failure. Only thing kidbrooke has going for it is Tallis.
