I hope you dont...i'm your competition... I was do unto others. We ran into a problem in editing as well. our directors cut actually makes sense. Its on you tube you should check it
you may have won if the video wasnt a video about makeing a video. If it had just been about man scouts that would have been great. But it loses creativity when it becomes the video about the 24 hour film race
I know, I know...I hang my head. We actually set out to make Man Scouts as an actual movie but everyone fell asleep at noon and some of our actors had to go to work. When Austin woke up to edit the video, he just couldn't seem to tie all the pieces together, so that's when they shot all the interviews. Sorry for letting you down, I know it could have been great. We'll do better next time!
making a film about making a film is usually like the first thing to pop into your head while brain storming. While they did good at it, its not really that creative.
It's generally the first idea because it's generally too bold an idea to think twice about. The fact that they pull it off shows creative direction, poise, and good pacing.
You can think otherwise, but this is creativity at work. And that's coming from a dramatic director. Check out my work 'Redemption', it's one of the video responses.
my response was coming as both a comedic and dramatic. Check out do unto others. Its not too bold... 2 things are funny though. That this guy agrees with me, and we are arguing on HIS you tube comment thing. funny.
yes.. if he believed his art was more creative than I gave hime credit for he wouldnt have apologized and continued to elaborate on what I was saying. He wouldnt have responded. How is making a video about making a video bold? I mean they all seem funny so they naturally have timing... just because people dont do it often doesnt mean its bold. No one video tapes themselves on the toilet... thats not bold its just not a good idea...
It's bold because often "making of" video parody/movies are shrugged-off or thrown away as ideas because they are too hard to make convincing and keep comedic timing in.
This has both, making it a successfully bold movie.
Thank you for your encouragingly kind response. While Man Scouts may not have been an absolute creative success, we worked really hard on it, and had A LOT of fun in the process.
I completely disagree. The realism of the 'making a movie' is something very bold and hysterical, and is perhaps the most creative and hardest type of movie to pull off.
I wrote and co-directed the video response 'Redemption', and we all loved this to death. In truth, it's comedic timing and general idea are sheer genius. The judging was awful, that's just it.
Great work.. I was part of a team in the Hollywood division, and we thought you guys were hysterical. We did not place as high as we would have liked, but you are right, we had a blast and that really is all that matters. we had a great time, glad to hear y'all (I am from Texas after all) had fun, you certainly appeared to be.
Those judges were gay as hell. I stayed throughout the entirety of all finalists and each and every call on the placings was dead-off. It looks as though this year they were looking for mediocrity over professionalism and creativity.
Either way, the crowd's ambiguous 'ooohhh....huh?' and unenthusiastic 'yay' made yall the apparent 1st placers. Everyone around me agreed.
Thanks ben! We had a lot of fun making Man Scouts and that was all that really matters anyhow. We all appreciate your kind words and continued support!
Hey guys, your video is by far the most hilarious one in futurvision. It's in the bag.
We tried to create backstories.
My team was in Pixelvision, but we were disqualified at screening when our tape failed to print audio. Still, please check it out in my video response.
Thank you for doing your duty to spread the awareness of man scouts. You are but a few replies away from receiving your man scout publicity merit badge. Remember the virtue of self-confidence and persistence and you may one day be assigned an official man-tor to guide you!
The fact that I got a chuckle out of a documentary for a movie that didn't happen involving people I don't know or care about says something (this is an expanded version of my usual "I lol'd").
i thought man scouts was the army!

That's hi-ho-hilarious, and makes the end product that much funnier.

What is he going to say "No, you're wrong, it's MORE creative!". Of course not.
Either way, boldness in movies is what makes them good. At least, on a broad scale. funny.

You just gave me our next idea for a skit. A phone conversation between the Man Scouts, while all of them are pooping.

I'll allow it.

Stop being a film critic, such a deep-thinking analysist, and just enjoy the film.
