Children have this sort of sixth sense, they have a strong sense of deja vu, and this professor came up with this experiement where he shocked certain parts of childrens brains in order to intensify that certain part. Some didn;t make it. The knights are using these plans in order to connect the real world and the wired. They use kids. They were using Lain, they most recently tried to get her by putting her image in the sky, this unpopular kid. But Lain figured it out! Thats my take on it!

Maybe the knights are the kids who were in the experiment but got blown up and trasferred into the wired. The two kids who caused Lain to appear in the sky were roughly the age of the kids in the experiment and they weren't physical. They may also be behind the new experiment because they want more members. Also, as Lain said, the knights are pretty impulsive and childish so they probably just blew up her cooling system out of anger at being insulted.

alright, due to the fact that the black suit guy said that it wasnt them, i have new reason to believe that the knights ecsist only in the Wired. the suits might be sort of like her protectors. idk why they have the lazer pointers.

Lain, like the old man said, has an incredible power that she can weild. ive been taking note of the fact that the "wild Lain" has come out alot recently. the "mild Lain" appeared in the sky.

i think that knights are sort of an online club that people subconsiosly join and dont realise it but are creating havoke when their actions are put together, but when one of them does something, unless they are high up in the "scoiciety", it means nothing and is easily dismissed
