@kalitaortiz1 also study human skin cells, skin rafts and scent so you as the handler have a better idea of how your dog is going to behave. The best dog for tracking hands down is the bloodhound but german shepherds and labs are also verry good. Start off verry slow and be prepaired to spend alot of time. I have used many dogs in hunting/tracking animals over the years. Of course its different my dogs are trained to scent out blood trails but you can teach them just about anything
@kalitaortiz1 the line is so that the handler knows exactly where the trail is so he can see the dogs actions and how good she can track. To start training on tracking learn about the different variables that consist of tracking. Temperature/humidity and wind play a big part in how well your dog can track. Then set a little trail just as he did in this video useing hot dogs or little pieces of chicken. Mark your trail and if your training the dog to look for people use an article of clothing
