  • Brb, doin' SS.

  • Eyeballing it, he's ~16% bodyfat. But he was a powerlifter. He's not a competitive natural bodybuilder. They stay between 5-12% bodyfat

  • Proper chin ups. Not these stupid half way forehead bar chin ups. The name says it all!

  • Considering all the fat he is carrying thats awesome

  • Mirin hard

  • FULL ROM on all 18 reps. From a dead hang to the bar fully clearing his chin. 90% of the guys at 24 hour fitness don't do it that strict. Bravo Rip... show them whippersnappers how it's done.

  • @AwestaKhalid true, its good form, but what about the knees? wouldn't it be more accurate to bend them and to flex core muscles for a straight body alignment?

  • @AwestaKhalid to bad hes kipping

  • Awesome bro! I just reached 18 chinups like 10 minutes ago!!! Funny thing is I didn't even feel pumped but I maxed haha!

  • Chuck Norris' alter ego

  • @UberTroll13 Fuck yeah...!!!!

  • fucker.

  • Rippletits is such a loser

  • @Nerdyy If Rippetoe is a loser, you must be the biggest piece of shit, scum of the earth. Shut your mouth.

  • looks a bit like chuck norris

  • I love that look on his face at the end. The "I'm about to pass the fuck out" look. My friends and I tend to get that after benching XD

  • Think this is sick? He deadlifted 800lbs 18 times at a workshop i was at last year

  • @UberTroll13 Riptoe cannot deadlift 800 once (at least not raw). He might have done less during the workshop

  • I can do 4 of these....with 2 bands assisting me...i'm 29...

  • Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

  • @a

  • Rep number 18 is what separates Rip from the boys

  • @guitarzombieghgh yeah going to failure is really hard.

  • Anyone know how much coach Rip weighed that night? Impressive stuff.

  • fucking insparation

  • He had 20 in him, he just didn't want to show off.

  • WRONG .... too mast ..... too wrong

  • He's more than twice my age and can do twice as many chins as I can. Impressive. Thanks for the inspiration, Coach Rip.

  • Always thought he was overweight... good to see

  • @ElGrandeJiP Overweight? What does that even mean?

  • @vjohn82

    Fat.

  • how can he be that strong and still fat? Shouldn't this dude be more shredded than ZYZZ and Chestbrah?

  • @stoneecold23

    You really serious ?

The strongest people are fat. guess why

  • @exterminatorium61

I guess I don't see what the point is to work out with no interest in aesthetics. It's fine to be more focused on strength in lifts, but to completely disregard diet and just get fat...is it worth it? Just to impress other dudes?

  • @stoneecold23

Well for one, he doesn't look fat there. He looks strong. Two, the guy is in his 50s. Might want to keep that in mind, as it's a lot easier to get shredded as you put it, when you're in your 20s and 30s.

  • @stoneecold23

You make it sound like you have not an ounce of manliness.

Rip claims that "physical strength is the most important thing in life" , he does not train to "get cut for the beach" .

You should also know that strength gains are made easier by a caloric excess , which usually implies fat gains.

  • @exterminatorium61

    cool. different goals i guess

  • @DmitriyK07

Sorry chief, it's widely regarded and accepted that pull-ups are with a supinated grip. Feel free to post a video of you doing them with "your back straight" so I can go out of my way to not watch it.

  • @JLascek you mean pronated, right?

  • @crayzhomie Is this a joke? I specifically wrote a comment to that other dingleberry that chin-ups are supinated. I'm not going to sit here and explain anatomy to silly YouTube commenters. After this sentence...

  • @JLascek Actually, you specifically wrote in a comment to that other dingleberry that PULL-UPS are supinated. I imagine you meant to say chin-ups, but you did in fact say pull-ups. Dmitriy still needs an anatomy lesson, I think, but crazyhomie seems to understand it just fine.

All that stupid crap aside, that is one fucking impressive show by a big guy like Rip.

  • @Chipmissioner Right you are, I didn't catch that. I did mean to say chin-ups. Thanks for the catch and apologies to Crazyhomie.

  • @DmitriyK07 How do you lift yourself up if your palms are NOT facing the bar? Do your fingers bend backwards?

  • @DmitriyK07 don't your palms face the bar regardless of...?

  • @DmitriyK07 You should just never speak again for being so wrong in every way. I hate you, whoever you are.

  • for a guy whose appearance is that ... .unimpressive i would consider this pretty good

  • idiot

  • chuck norris's dad lol

  • and here i was thinking he's just a coach...

  • After years of looking up to roided up meatheads, this guy is my hero now and I can honestly say I've seen the light.

  • rip the man!!!

i would struggle to do 15 and i'm 20 years younger and much leaner than he is.

  • Im suprized hes not bigger looking. He's awesome thou

  • I have not seen many other current or past powerlifters that are able to do this. Fantastic stuff!

  • @fyckthissht 0/10

  • @fyckthissht

    thats hardly kipping..

  • @fyckthissht, you sir are a douchebag. Kipping is extreme swinging... his body is doing what it should be doing in chin-ups.

  • @mcnailler93G

if he is not kipping then why didn't he swing his body like he did in the last lift the whole time? are you allowed to raise your legs like that to take weight away from your upperbody?

  • @avatarion while you lift your legs a little like that, it makes your abs workout also

  • oh shit he is strong

  • @ArcticSheep the pull up and chin up are part of starting strength. It's a variation of starting strength called "practical programming."

  • why aren't pull ups recommended in starting strength?

  • @ArcticSheep Chins and pulls are assistance exercises that aren't part of the main program, but Rip himself often mentions that they are critical in overall strength development, and good indicators of real strength.

  • fucking tank

  • Rip is the fucking man. I can't be the only one that thinks he kinda looks like danny bonaduce.

  • @kodijoz01 total danny bonaduce look alike lol

  • Still strong as shit.

    props

  • Rip, a teacher and a beast. Love it.

  • Now i feel like a pussy....

  • u pussy haha

  • Rip is a Bad-man

  • ripped toe

  • fuck

  • Fuckin dad strength right there.

  • Impressive. I have a love hate relationship with chins, hate to do them... love the results....kinda like squats.

  • Awesome and inspiring :-)

  • Nails as fuck. I hope I can do this at 53.

  • BAMF

  • respect!

  • 5 Stars!

  • HA!
