This was THE first progressive surf movie, before Wave Warriors. It doesn't look progressive at all now but believe me, at 13 years old when I bought this on VHS, I had a family room full of stoked kids, many of them went on to be huge in surfing, including Kelly Slater, all watching this movies with their eyes popping out of their sockets. My copy is long gone so I was so stoked to see this was one here. Disappearence from Body Glove was the next best. Quik needs to release this on DVD.
@abloom1970 I agree, this was epic, we would watch it and amp out, go down to newport and fire it up!! 110% inspiration.....I had a dishwasher ask me my favorite movie of all time, and I pulled up KOng's section and said this.......
In my opinion, Rabbit's surfing style is the smoothest (OK along with Mr. Pipeline, Gerry Lopez) in all of surfing history. Thanks Rabbit for showing the world what it's really all about. :-] Cheers,
I reckon Richard Cram had the best. After that we got Curren, Occy, Shane Dorian and Frankie Oberholser. Now I reckon Parko, Fanning and the Irons brothers.
I wish I had the whole movie. I actually put the clips that I found on here, hoping that someone actually had the whole thing. I'm really missing that old vhs copy I had of it.l
really inspired me too, when I was a child. One of the best surf videos... I saw it more than 100 times...

Just pulled this vid from the collection I had stuffed away in a box I had forgotten about when shifting houses, thanks for refreshing the memory !!!
What an alltime surf flick & soundtrack, also had bonus footage of kongs island.
If this flick does'nt get the saltwater flowing through your veins, you must be dead !
Btw - how's chappys lay-backs, talk about a lost art !

That part where Chappy Jennings pulls into that huge barrel at Pipe and breaks his board is epic.

One of my all time fav surf flicks.
Can you post the intro? That's the best part of the whole movie. The scrapbook and Pink Floyd--Epic.
