@gcpreda No way, man! Those eagles are used to humans. Have you seen pla1554alaska's other videos? She's got one video of a pair of eagles hanging out on her balcony, and she was standing one foot away from it. Didn't get spooked at all.
This is pretty sad, imagine how many fish were take away from the environment with a net this size... These eagles need the food since there isn't fish left in the body of water! Excluding all of this is you're fishing with sustainable practices. What beautiful birds!!!
@Staytheredoggy@ricefarmer According to the tags, this was filmed at Dutch Harbor in Unalaska, Alaska. And when I looked up fishing there, they fish for Pacific Halibut, which is one of the sustainable species of fish. So, I think your concerns are misplaced.
Really, can we have one YouTube video that isn't beset by an activist sobbing about how sad and wrong the video is? Come on. Let's enjoy how awesome it is to see eagles getting along so well with humans.
I'm just glad that they're not smart enough to gang up on us. Smaller eagles in other parts of the world are capable of killing wolves and deer. Bald eagles would almost certainly be capable of the same thing to people, especially in groups.
@briantotse3 Eagles sometimes do that for food in their more desperate situations, but when they take out wolves and other predators, they often eat them -- but it's primarily intended to draw down the competing predators to manage food sources. This is not much of a visible problem that eagles would perceive in humans. And since most animals simply don't like how humans sit in their diet, they wouldn't take us for food unless necessary.
Thats pretty neat but I'd be worried and feel so bad if one of them got stuck and couldn't get out. You'd have to grab a knife and cut the net and I'd be scared of getting my face torn off from those large talons! hehe. Such a beautiful bird! I love eagles!!
@junkheadrev I don't know much about the laws in the U.S., but I'm pretty sure if the wildlife department found out about this your ass could be dragged to prison.
I'm happy when I see these fantastic view, and I am amazed when I hear how faithfully defend this symbol, this magnificent creature. not only the authority but also by ordinary people, at the same time I feel sad for my country's eagle, which is not so lucky as her American sister.

@DDSquadPod well then, i guess it would make it ok to just take a knife and jab you in the neck then. cuz like you said, there aren't many occurrences. and in this case there are actually a LOT of occurrences with idiots like you crawling around.
I don't know, but after watching some videos of eagles, it seems like the eagles in Alaska are tamer than those in the rest of the U.S. Not sure, just my feeling.

@PairoftheSocks I Agree, they are a pain in the ass... also they "Aim" for moving targets when they need a poop... True fact. Thats why so many get poo'd on by them.
I wish i could get as close to the as you did so i could take pictures. This is one of the main reasons i wanted to become a photographer in the first place
@1xCoDx1 You would go to prison for life! I can't believe you would even think about such a thing! Good thing you don't live here. You wouldn't last long anyway with thoughts like that. The eagles are beautiful creatures!
@pla1554alaska u think i would do it? of course not!! i was being an idiot when i said that sorry and its actually against my religion to kill animals for no reason, although they do creep me out a little.
They actualy range as far south as Florida. I have a pic of a Bald Eagle perched on a fence when I was living in Kissimmee. I was shocked, to say the least.
@Holyworms That's cute but Alaska is America! We call the rest of the US "the lower 48" and then we call Hawaii "Hawaii". But thatnks for watching my video and thanks for the cute comment!
@pla1554alaska Agreed with the "Alaska" Comment. Ive been around this Country. Safely said about 30 of the states. Alaska not being one of them. I find it a rarity to see more than 1 eagle around the same grounds as another. Unless its mating season. Ive been fascinated but eagles all my life and have a great interest in them. Its weird to me how they will attack grizzlies but not a human. But this video actually blew me away. Thanks for the upload! =)

@636roadrunner Non natives may not do ANYTHING to a bald eagle, this includes harassing, ie; getting too close, feeding intentionally, removing feathers from an eagle carcass, or even having an eagle feather in your possession. Federal offences. Natives, on the other hand receive preferential treatment, and may have body parts and may, on some occasions kill bald eagles for ceremonial purposes.
@myprophet1 I am a Cherokee Indian and I was born on a reservatiion in Michigan. They worship bald eagles and would never harm one, not even for ceremonial purposes.

@J88Wolf i used to volunteer at one of the most well known raptor rehabilitation centers in the us and the founder of the organization who is one of the highest authorities on raptor rehabilitation poignantly told me that no anyone in america cannot just have shed eagle feathers without going through a whole series of paperwork with the federal gov't because it is endangered, etc. if one does possess eagle feathers without having gone thru the paperwork, they run the risk of serious fines.
@inbetweentics I'm very confused, I read over the laws, and they don't even mention anything about feathers, just Eggs, nests, migratory locations and the bird itself (dead OR alive). {: /
@J88Wolf i totally agree with you. i was rather stunned when this person told me that, but was warned the gov't really will come after someone with fines and such if they don't have PROPER PAPERWORK in order. i can certainly understand the protection issue w/regards to the poaching and the endangerment. i guess it's so hard to prove how you got them if it was naturally shed. i don't know. let's put it this way, if you have them naturally, don't advertise lol! ;)
@inbetweentics I haven't even seen a Bald Eagle in person, atleast not yet, I know they are in my state (AR) though. :) I have relatives in a county over that live on lakeside property and they see bald eagles dive into the lake to snatch up carp every so often.
@J88Wolf if you want a truly life changing event, become a volunteer at an area raptor rehabilitation organization, even if just a summer or something. i found wings and claws wildlife rehabilitation there in ar thru wildliferehabber d o t o r g that have fed permits for raptors (click view permits), so they may very well do some work with injured, etc, bald eagles. i had no idea how it would change me for the better after i did volunteer work and it's amazing. you look at life so differently.
@inbetweentics I don't think there is a place like that near my location, just a small nature center. I'm not surprised though, from what I could tell, our raptor population seems to be going up every year, esp. the local Owl population.
@J88Wolf i encourage you wholeheartedly to look into it - contact the different orgs i linked to you in the previous comment that are located in ar. you won't believe how bad it is for many of these raptors. know the saying out of site out of mind? until you get to see the numbers of them injured by power lines, gun shots, vehicles, etc, and then engage in rehabbing them (some can be released while others need a permanent sanctuary due to injuries), it's just life changing. my best wishes to you
@FaitalRyuu They are very young bald eagles. It takes a bald eagle about 5 years to get the white head and white tail and black feathers. You should see the new babies in the nest! They have this fuzzy brown top on their head and their beak is black and they are speckled and brown. If you just saw them and didn't know you would never think that was an eagle. Thanks for watching!
WoW! I am so envious of you being able to be this close to, and happily not too feared by, these beautiful birds. Thanks again for sharing this amazing scene.
Eagles are majestic and beautiful but this reminds me of the pigeons sitting in park waiting for a hand out or the seagulls at almost any Los Angeles City beach waiting for some inexperienced peole to leave their picnic unguarded so they can pick thourgh at eat their sandwiches and chips. Even worse is when the seagulls take almost every bit of garbage out of a can to get some human waste. Its kind of sad.
@steveb391 They clean the nets for the guys repairing the nets so it's a good thing. There are about 850 eagles that live in our little town here so instead of all the pigeons we have eagles.
@bluegreen1138 Or we could come here on our own and view an upload that isn't tainted by mass media. It would be a shame to see a bunch of media turds there.
With any luck the fisherman could be driven out of business by the advertisers that hear about this location and decide, doritos must conquer it. (look at that, my spellcheck wants to capitalize doritos... perfect.).
I used to live in Alaska. I just love your footage of the eagles. Thank you for sharing and please keep sharing!

So, if I throw a net outside my house full of dead rats, can I summon a bunch of Red-Tailed Hawks?

(look at that, my spellcheck wants to capitalize doritos... perfect.).
Colbert commanding eagles... Great.
I hope you thought about that as much as I.
Your opinion, I know...
This one was mine.
