there are thousands of talented artists and great songs that miss out on being number one every christmas because of the x-factor see the trouble is it's about marketing anything regardless of quality and putting it on a pedestal (which is essential what the x-factor is about) and kids will always by it because they believe hype is good. simon Cowell dosn't care about music he cares about money

You guys need to relax and enjoy! He is just starting his music career and all you guys can do is be negative about this lovely young man. Why don't you just give him a chance and wish him luck. It's not like he is in this about the fame / money, he just genuinely loves to sing and try to make it in the music business like others. Don't Stop Believing Joe because we won't!

personally i believe the kids who normally by into the x-factor hype are starting to get wiser to it, and im sure they are starting to realise how generic the whole x-factor really is so trust me they'll be a lot more campaigns like the ratm facebook one to come. Music should be about music not about money and monopoles and kids know that now!

As far as I'm concerned he is the Christmas number 1. People have purchased Joe's single because they like it, whereas a lot of other people have purchased Rage out of spite in order to manipulate the charts. Rage was not even available to buy in the shops! The BBC charts can say what they like, but I do not recognise this weeks chart as having credibility.

People purchased the rage single to show their disdain for a manufactured kareoke show which is pushing genuine musicians (who have an ability to write their own songs) to the side, It's not about spite it's about standing up for music which isn't prefabricated

With every respect to your view - I think the show has produced some very talented groups & singers, who have gone on to have very succesful careers at national & international level. Leona Lewis, Alexandsra Burke, JLS to name a few (people have purchased their records in the millions, because they enjoy what they do - what's wrong with that) To deny Joe his moment of fame by deliberately purchasing such a vile sounding record (which had limited success 1st time round) is spiteful in my book.

shows like this also produced the likes of steve brookstein etc - people whose careers are cut short of their 15 minutes (at the point they decide they want their own individuality and then they are deemed no longer marketable by cowell) the same will happen to joe,

At least rage with their "vile" record as you put it have been around for 20 years on the backs of their OWN music do you honestly believe joe or any of the other x- factor contestant will be around in another20 years from now?

Fair point about Steve Brookstein - I had a lot of respect for him. Of course Simon Cowell will dump artists when he considers them no longer marketable - he's there to make as much as he can for himself like any businessman. If artists & viewers dont like it though, they dont have to support the show & have other options. The internet is wonderful in that it has given a number of talented and independent artists, a chance to make it without the big companies.

Run out of characters... Yes, I can definitely see Leona Lewis lasting 20 years. Simon Cowell has also been responsible for producing serious non main stream artists (definitely not manufactured Karaoke) such as Il Divo. He's not all bad!! Ha...

what happened to people? it's good people can write their own songs..but you don't need to be song writers to become a good singer..that's under different label . Song writer, singer, guitarist ,drummer...there are good singers who never writes their own stuff..Rage on christmas number 1 single is a cheat ,cuz his single cannot buy at the shop ,so people bought online ,quicker and cheaper ways..so many people bought that single not even for listening just to fight x factor..Joe wins......
