Jersey Shore has NOTHING to do with Italian Americans. An MTV freak show of under developed losers who will do/say anything for their 15 minutes. MTV coerced their puppets to "play" their freaks and "staged" this non-reality show with Italian flags, posters and stereotypes.

I mean come on, Snookie from Chile, JWovw: Irish, Ronnie Ortiz: Puerto Rican, Angie Pivarnick: ? Polish. Yep, this is a legitimate Italian American sub-culture (lol).

Im Italian/Mexican, I dont watch Jersey Shore. I despise the Guido/Guinni/Gumba mentality. Italians are being degraded through media, just like Mexicans or Latino out in the West Coast. My grandfather did not imagrate to the Americas, he fled Mussolini, Italy, his family, his home to never return. My aunt remaried into a first generation italian family, it was great experience growing in trilingual/bicultural family. Jersey shore, does not represent me or my family.

I can see the sensitivity but I sure don't agree with it... I refer to myself as a "Ginny" "Whop" "De'go" "Guido" with pride, they were words that kept my grandparents down when they first arrived in this country. Now I use as a term to show where our people have come from and how we're not seen as a minority group anymore

I've never actually seen a person from the "Guido Culture", but they seem like fun people to hang out with. Anyway, I like the way this video attempts to explain the controversy and "irony" about Italian-Americans and the often distorted images of their culture on T.V.

seriously, man? relax. and stop over-intellectualizing this subject. guidos are a culture in themselves. many are not italian. alot of guidos are irish and jewish. just as "wiggers' are white kids who immerse themselves in black gangster rap culture. just the same as "trailer trash" icons like Kid Rock come from wealthy wasp families. the kids on the jersey shore show identify with the guido culture. they aren't trying to represent or offend italian people. offended parties are just classist.
