  • **Ellen Greene starts singing Somewhere That's Green**....... And now I'm crying.

  • Had I been able to participate in such a thing, I would have whined too. Gimme my Disney ending goddammit.

  • O WAIT WTF?!?! HE GAVE AUDREY 2 AUDREY 2?!?! HELL NAAAHHH!!!!!

  • I can quote every line of the 1 LIKE this in color. This part is different. Audrey lives

  • Like the "new" ending better. Hell, I see enough death in real life. Give me a fairy tale damnit! Regardless of how campy it may be!

  • 46 people have been eaten by audrey 2

  • why is it in black and white?

  • @TMNTfan8 the original color film print was destroyed in a studio fire, leaving only the black & white workprint

  • @oneplayeraway ellen greene i think

  • who is the blonde actress?

  • who is the blonde actress?

  • This is epic. I ALMOST like this better than the other ending... but it made me cry. :'(

  • 4:53-6:36: Alan Menken can sure deliver the emotions.

  • Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops

  • I have seen enough hentai to know where this is going

  • @Daiimglass epic comment is epic xD

  • Black and White rocks.

  • didthey use the same people in the remake?

  • I see why Seymore had a trouble getting Audrey out of Audrey ll! her dress is SO BIG!

  • wait.... why did she die and why did he gave her body to that monster.im confused that god they didnt use that ending the movie probably wouldn't be as popular

  • I like this ending better :)

  • if you listen to jsut hte audio for the part when seymor is getting audrey out of twoey, it sounds like seymor is having sex.. if you just listen to it, it will come to you.. :P

  • ok i get that he love her but why would he just feed her to the plant I mean come on does anyone agree with me??

  • @sdavidg54 She wanted that to happen. So, through love, he obeyed her.

  • Why the heck are there even two versions of this movie? And was the first version really black and white like this???

  • @TheTjerty Yes, because this is just the original edited version of the workprint! I hate it when people whine about films being black and white. So please shut yer jaws.

  • @TheTjerty Well i'm not whining, I'm just surprised that a black and white movie has this good of animation. I haven't seen one before that is this good.

  • I know this has probably been said a hundred times already but as you can see the filmmakers did originally shoot this ending. They paid a lot of money for it. But when they showed it to preview audiences no one liked it. People wanted to see Seymore and Audrey live and suceed. The filmmakers then when back and quickly reshot the ending.

  • Completely agree on the "moral resonance" of this ending. I saw an amateur production of this show based of course on the original stage version, and I was so much more touched by the sadder ending.

  • @DistantCousin I agree with the moral resonance also but this endings believability (yeah I know, I'm complaining about believability in a movie with a giant space plant that eats people) just wasnt very good, I mean the military with all their fire based weaponry couldn't stop PLANTS? I mean last I checked fire and plants dont go together.

  • @NegaZxyz its a space plant. space plants are fire-proof. everyone knows that.

  • @MrPier101 Lol cursed space plants.

  • You want to sacrifice your body to an evil tryant, so it can grow big and take over the world? Audrey, you are one dumb blonde

  • good news. it's confirmed that the film will come next year in blu-ray with the original ending

  • @Jacob6443 this better be true

  • @Jacob6443 I hope the original ending is actually PART of the movie and not an extra...and they should also add the extended part of "The Meek Shall Inherit!"

  • I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going..

  • The movie version is missing the stuff that makes it more of a Faustian deal. It doesn't have all of Meek Shall inherit, Seymour tricking Mushnick into the plant because he's going to take him to the police, etc. So the play ending doesn't really fit the movie version, and vice versa.

However, I saw a stage production with a happy ending which was really weird.

  • This being one of my favorite movies of all time, I have to say I can appreciate both endings completely. I've grown up with the happy ending, so I naturally like that one. This is the first time I've seen the alternate ending. I gotta say, it's pretty disturbing, but also very good. I do however feel it doesn't quite match the tone of the rest of the film, but this ending does resonate emotionally in a much bigger way.

  • Is it me or is it a little creepy from 8:29-8:35 how that little Audrey 2 smiles at Seymour?

  • @reelsweet25 Yeah that seriously creeped me out

  • Even though I like the other ending better I can honestly say this one is superior. Mainly because this here has a more thrilling ending and of course the end song is just awesome. And the special effects of the plants destroying the city were simply amazing.

But the other has a happier ending. Oh well either way it's still good.

  • I really love Audrey. She is really beautiful. I wish they would get married and be together. Too sad. <:(

  • @musicis100percent Uh, they DO get married and live happily ever after in the movie version, with a cameo of a little plant at the very end right before the credit s role suggesting the possibility of a sequel. From what I understand, it's always only been in the many different plays of LSOH that has the "everyone dies" ending. I have LSOH on DVD so I get to enjoy the happy ending that I prefer every time. ( this version...with rick moranis, steve martin , and bil murray)

  • @musicis100percent

They do, at least in the happy ending that was officially released. The filmmakers dropped this one because the test audience saw Audrey and Seymour (mostly Audrey) dying and were really pissed off at the idea. I agree that it's a very depressing scene and I really hate to see the character die, but her death is essential to the moral of the story.

  • Ive seen enough hentai to know where this is going

  • Thumbs up if this reminds you (in a way) of the American Dad Hot Water episode. You know it frikken does:)

  • @tetsuojuno that entire ep was based of of little shop of horrors =.=

  • Wat was that weird sound she made when she died?!?!

  • i was just hoping the plant ate her, i hate audreys guts

  • is this just re edited in black and white or has it always been like this then it was added in color?

  • Glad this didn't make it.Thanks for killing the woman I love, and by the way, here eat her?????????????

  • Amazing! And absolutely gorgeous! I like this ending very much. Audreys death is so heartbreaking and beautiful. I cried. Plants rampage is overextended, though. I like both endings. Each of them have their points. And I don't know which one fits better for the movie. Original ending is more emotional and moralistic, but, otherwise, Seymour and Audrey are too nice in the movie and not deserve such terrible end.

  • This is the song that the old man from Family Guys sings! LOL

  • @glorie712 It's called a parody.

  • american dad copy this ending

  • @glorie712 Using a Hot Tub?

  • TENTICAL RAIPE

  • "somefinks very wong heew"

  • I cried. I sware. Audreys voice is so sweet ane high. I love it.

  • i don't think so audrey 2 is from the total eclipse of the sun i think

  • why is it that when she starts screaming, its like a pig....maybe a little shout out to miss piggie?!

  • We did LSoH for a school play 10 years ago & went with this ending.

  • @LikaLaruku Its the original ending the way it is done on stage. The stage version hasnt been changed

  • I love this ending! My friends think I'm weird because I prefer this ending over the happy Hollywood ending, but I love it because you don't see it coming. And the lesson lies in the original ending, and who gives me the right to mess around with the original writer's vision?

  • BEST. TENTACLE PORN. EVER.

  • As soon as Jim Belushi shows up, the movie turns to ass. I'd pay to see a DVD with this b+w footage cut in, but as for what's for sale now... I'll pass forever.

  • @javelinman7 about 8 years ago the DVD was released with the original ending, howeverthere were some problems with the studio and it was yanked from the shelves

  • @DarkwingMantis98 im so glad that i pre ordered it its so rare now it can get up to 300 dollars buts its to bad theres noother half of meek shall inherit song if you here it its really good.

  • @Nintendowaffles oh you lucky bastard. I was in the play years ago so I know the whole Meek Shall Inherit song, and yes it is fantastic. My one gripe is that the movie left out Mushnik's song Mushnik and Son (since I played Mushnik on stage lol)

  • @DarkwingMantis98 yeah it is a bummer but something tells me i just couldnt see it in the movie

  • Seymour dying is fine, but I will forever disagree with Audrey's death. She doesn't deserve that. I prefer the movies in tact ending.

  • Yeah, the original ending is a cop out. Seymour killed 2 people, and it's really hard to argue mushkin deserved it, sure he was greedy, but did he deserve to die? This is a dark movie. I pray we get this ending restored on a new release as it elevates this movie from great to an absolute classic

also, Don't feed the plants is a great song!

  • @Vriess123 LOVE Don't Feed the Plants. Favorite song in the musical.

  • I will definitley say this about the ending, that piano that goes on from 5:00-6:37 is absolutely gorgeous. I know we all have our preferences in which ending we like better, but I like being able to see both. It's nice to see what COULD have been done had the directors decided to give the film the same ending as the stage play rather than keeping it in the dark forever.

  • this ending blows, it looks too much like the end of Jaws 3 =P

  • im about to cry

  • that's cruel... but delicous...

  • Who ever said that the speacial effects in the 80s where poor must have been a nut! He scares me! I don't think I'll be buying a venus fly trap anytime soon!

  • :*D

  • you know with tihs film being such a comedy, as well as th epaly. I think this was definately the wrong ecnding. It's too serious for the rest of it. Maybe it looks better on stage with this ending, but in the film it seems jsut so out of palce.

  • @SingerKId12 It's called a tragicomedy: a mixture of tragedy and comedy. That's how the play was: it had something for everyone. Changing the movie's ending killed part of what made the play so memorable.

  • I don't know much about film, but may I ask; why is this in black and white? I'm sure it has to do with never being finished, as it is the unused ending, but I would like to know, please don't think me as stupid for asking.

  • I love the feeling of emotion that it surges through me...but with all the humor in the movie, this ending feels a bit too serious.

  • Oh, please! It was good of you to make this available, but when you prattle about -- ahem -- "the classic that could have been had the filmmakers stayed true to the retelling of Faust that lent moral resonance to its otherwise campy source material," you sound like an asinine twit. You don't think this lachrymose ending is equally campy? And dull? And a downer?

  • OMG that sucked, I think I will stick with the other ending.

  • this will never be the original play

  • why is her voice like that

  • so glad they found the original ending. my old dvd with commentary says that it was lost on the cutting room floor. it's a miracle!

  • i love lsoh

  • That evil little cabbage face!

  • HOOLAHOOPS HOLLAHOOPS HOOLAHOOPS

  • 44 people didnt feed the plant

  • where did patrick martin get that little audrey 2

  • @annaandkevinshow He stole part of audrey and cloned her...him...it.

  • I love this ending, but it doesn't fit. In the play, Seymour sang through his options and decided to let Orin die. Movie: he was terrified and Orin died really quickly. In the play, he tricked Mushnik into going into Audrey II's mouth. Movie: he moved him closer and Mushnik basically fed himself to the plant. We don't feel Seymour's as guilty of murder in the movie, so this ending feels too harsh. This ending carries more emotion (I like that), but the other fits the events more.

  • @UnMlynarczyk Agreed! You just put to words my thoughts exactly

  • @UnMlynarczyk On the other hand the omission of these key scenes allows the film to deliver a much grimer message, and that lesson is that standing by and letting something happen can be just as bad as doing the deed yourself.

  • Oh My God just foung myself crying :/ thats really sad :'(

  • They should have kept this scene. The ending in the film was too campy. This one was more emotional.

  • @aMgVbros4aetas Yeah, but everyone who saw it, said it was horrible.

  • @aMgVbros4aetas I myself like the happier ending better. But I love both endings. I could watch this movie with either ending.

  • That's DARK. They did the right thing, by deciding to cut/re-edit this scene.

  • I suppose both endings have their place and they're both fine, but this one is how I know the story. Dark, no BS, unhappy ending. While we're making everything happy and nice for the panty-waist test audience, might as well have kept the others alive; had Orin reform and be a nice dentist/boyfriend after rehab, and maybe we'll see clips of Mr. Mushnik over at Seymour's and Audrey's little house for Thanksgiving dinner at age 83. Heh.

  • Why settle for this ending? Whatever happened to happily ever after? I'm a collector, not a philosopher, so the other ending was perfect!

  • @Jam24511

Except this was the ending that the bookwriter intended.

  • This ending is sad, but I prefer it. Seymour actually suffers for killing his boss, and for feeding Orin to Audrey II. I like consequences. >:D

  • @BrownEyedGirl5643

He didn't feed his boss, the boss backed in and fell, Orin was deserving for all the many karma inducing things he did, and Audrey 1 doesn't deserve anything.

    Where is your logic

  • @BrownEyedGirl5643

Plus Orin killed himself, why let the body go to waste

  • I kind of like the other ending: there's a reason this movie wasn't done straight.

  • hula hoops! hula hoops! hula hoops!

  • I love how he's planning on ending his life, but he wants the car to stop.

  • This is the ending in the stage musical.... I really wish they had kept this ending as it is spectacular and emotional

  • we r doing this ending at camp haha yah i like this better though

  • @KatyForever93 well yes but it was slightly altered

  • the beginning of the original ending is in the final cut right?

  • aurdrey no!!!!!

  • Im glad they didn't keep this for the ending its so sad

  • This ending is actually light hearted compared to how the original movie ends. Especially since the buds in this version dont show the faces of the victims fed to the plant. And Seymour really didn't mean it in this one.

  • This ending makes no sense in context to the released version of the film, all because they cut out the full version of the meek shall inherit.

  • Muppets: Eat your heart out, computers.

  • This is one of the instances where I'm glad the better ending, and this IS the better ending, got cut. I much prefer the more cliche happy-ever-after ending this time around, which is rare for me. Just love these characters too much to give a damn about the lesson in morality this ending is trying to teach.

  • what year is this?

  • Interesting fact about Audrey's death: in the musical, she took a sominex and actually fell asleep after singing her reprise, so technically, she didn't die until she was fed to the plant. But in this scene, they cut the sominex part out, so really, she DID get killed by the plant. Makes you wonder, which is more tragic? Her dying and getting eaten, or her living but still getting eaten?

  • Never mind. Didn't see the part 2

  • Where's the rest of it

  • r u ok yes i just almost got eaten by a plant :P :D

  • I'm a sucker for downer endings, and even I prefer the new ending.

    This is TOO sad ;O;

  • this ending fucking sucks dick i like the mew one better

  • My friend played Audrey in her play and she was HILARIOUS!!! It was funny to hear her talk in a super high voice!

  • Tentacle raep

  • That's what you get for dealing with the (floral) devil, Seymour.

  • I heard that even the actors preferred this ending. Stupid test audience. This is a cool ending. Even though I'm usually a happy ending person, this ending is much more entertaining. And not as cliche.

  • Is it supposed to be black and white?

This is exactly the same as the colored one

  • I like this ending way better than the one they used

  • @nonserviamreviews so do I!

  • I hated this ending!!!! Epic fail just because she died and she was talking non sense!

  • @luftful951 glad i'm not the only one with that opinion, i like the final ending better

  • i like the happy ending better

  • We did this ending in the school play-much better I think

Less tacky than the original :L

  • @TheAnnaGurlisBack well, that makes sense. This movie is based on a stage musical, and this is the ending they used in the original stage version.

  • this made my little girl cry cos audrey died and then was put into the audrey IIs mouth

  • Comment removed

  • @alexkellyissexy

    And you know what?

I didn't mind the slapstick ending for the movie. God. People will whine over anything these days.

  • Wait how did audrey die

  • @puppyreverser it looks like she got crunched by II's teeth.

  • HULA HOOPS HULA HOOPS

  • i have a feeling my bio class is gonna do a taxonomy project....im gonna push to see if i can do the taxonomy of Audrey II...

  • make a video about the orinigsl beginning

  • Oh, girl. Audrey's hair is practically blinding in black and white.

  • COME ON AND GIMME A DRIIINK

  • I may be a little creepy, but I enjoyed the original ending. I think the other was just a little too tidy

  • I prefer the Hollywood ending, by far. This one is TOO cruel!!

  • why is this in black and white?

  • @riverroest

its the negative print, the others got burned in a fire

  • @riverroest we din 'T HAVE COLOR TUBES BACK THEN

  • @Heavanblue

It's in black and white because it was just an early copy. There actually WAS a colored version of this scene, but it accidently got destroyed, I guess.

  • semour : mustnot be hipmutised by little plants smile aaaaaaaaah Patrick martin : mr krelborn hey ur weird why ?

  • Comment removed

  • audrey wants to be eaten just because she misses orin and mushnick

  • (sob.)

  • Mr. Crelborn? I know ur about to kill ir self but can we talk?

  • i love this movie, but Audrey's voice is annoying, not trying to be mean but the airy-lisp voice annoys me

  • lol at 8:15, it sounds like " Audrey 2s Everywhere..deverywhere..DEVERYWHERE..DEVERYWHERE!

  • this song is actually making me cry. :(

  • anyone else besides me creeped out by that little plant's smile?

  • I <3 Ellen Greene!

    *cries*

  • AUDREY: Am I dreaming this? AUDREY II: No, and you ain't in Kansas neither. LOL! Wizard of Oz reference

  • hoola hoops hoola hoops hoola hoops dude thats pretty stinkin poular. lol great vid

  • Nah, and you ain't in Kansas eithah

  • I like this ending a lot better to be honest. It didn't seem so Hollywood.

  • always prefered this ending. it is more powerful.
