Well, study is a very important element, just like with anything else - learning endgame theory, postional skills for the middlegame, and so on - there are dozens of little tricks and tactics etc that will improve your game massively. I advise getting some books along these lines of you don't have any already. The series published by "Gambit" are excellent. Hope this helps, and all the best,
