  • @maliceheart18 your right. I stand corrected. I just listened to both versions side by side this is Brain Fair.

  • @Disturbed43216 Do you know what a re-recordsing is? Becuz this clearly isnt.

  • Man the people saying this is Phil Lebonte are not musically inclined at all. Shadows fall started in 1998 with the album Somber Eyes To The Sky. After Phil Lebonte Left the band due to creative differences Brian Fair joined and they made their second cd Of One Blood. This is from the Of One Blood album. The original version is also on youtube but it sounds a lot different as it sounds more melodic death toned than metalcore toned. Fair and Lebonte sang completely different.

  • This is not from Of One Blood. This is from Somber Eyes. Of One Blood is the 1st album with Brain Fair.

  • @PUNISHERWarzone87 Do you know what a re-recording is?

  • @PUNISHERWarzone87 It is from Of One Blood because the version in Somber Eyes has that clean intro with rain in the background then the song starts. And plus you can totally tell this is Brian on vocals

  • one of my friend used to call them Shadows Fail. He is no longer my friend since I sent him to the hospital

  • God damn some people are stupid. This is BRIAN. Brian and Phil sound nothing alike. If you have at least some intelligence and sence of sound, you would undertand this.

  • Really Im glad Phil left, cause both Shadows Fall and Phil have gone to greater heights than they would have if Phil was still in the band.

  • Shadows Fall is Fucking Bad Ass........

  • these guys pioneered all that "metalcore/deathcore" and i wish they would die, but i remember listening to this when i was 13, brings back memories

  • @bizzybozzy1 Now thats not very nice lol....I think they have been one of the best Metal bands of the last decade...:)

  • All metalcore sounds the same

  • phil labonte is better than brian, thats why now ATR > shadow falls

  • I notice they redo their older versions done by the original singer.. do they do "Pure"

  • awsome awsome @AWSOME !!!!

  • simpley fucking awsome!!! so cool that they covered the original songs... in my oppinion the short lived original band was waaaaaaaaaaay better. not that I don't like the new singer the guy has tallent.. but the original members that left were crucial parts. but this new singer rips shit right the fuck up, and definitely does the song justice

  • ya this is Brian Fair

    man the opening kicks ASS!!!!

  • This is so phil. I can tell

  • this is brian fair version.

  • @JefferyVonLefty this is so not phil, but ok.

  • i find he kind of sounds like angela off of arch enemy

  • The original version to this song that Phil did had a real cool intro. It was like being in a south american Jungle.

  • the of one blood album was Brian, Phil recorded this song with Shadows Fall on the With Somber Eyes to the Sky album. Phil also wrote the song

  • This is Phil from All That Remains in this song.

  • It's definitely Brian. Man, his scream is a lot better here than in later albums.

  • dude this is phil look it up, Phil sang their first cd this is their first cd so its phil.

  • Simply not true. Somber Eyes to the Sky is their first album. Of One Blood is their SECOND album. While there IS a version of this on Somber (with Phil), this version is with Brian. Come on people, do a little research before you post.

  • yeah, come on now, you even said look it up. if you had taken the time to practise what you preach youd realise how horribly wrong you are. the album this is on was released in 2002 and theryre first album was in 1998 as said below. you only need to listen to it to know its brian. you fail, hugely!

  • 2000

  • its actually Phil Labonte from All that Reamins in this song, not Brian Fair, Brian Later joined

  • Go to the Wikipedia article for this album. It clearly says, "Brian Fair - vocals" in the lineup section. If you don't trust Wikipedia, go to any decent album review site and it will tell you the lineup.

  • I love Shadows Fall (Somber Eyes To Sky era) and Suffocation. Man I love Matt's taste of music, he's a death metal guy like me.

  • Matt is so awesome at death growling (almost reminds me of Chris Barnes) and he's awesome at playing death metal. death metal was definitely one his huge influences, I read many of his interview that he's Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse. I think Suffocation is one of Matt's favorite Death Metal band from what I seeing on his interview. I can see why songs like Somber Angel, Suffer The Season, Eternal, and Nurture riffs and breakdowns have alot of Suffocation influences.

  • phil sung from 1995 1998 this phil brian didnt come in till 2000 and this came out in 98

  • the somber eyes to the sky is the only album with phil from all that remains hence this is phil singing this was b4 he went to all that remans

  • Actually, listen to the clean singing. If you listen closely, it's definitely Brian Fair. This is the Of One Blood version. The Somber Eyes to the Sky version is sung by Phil though, you'd definitely be right on that one.

  • ik its brian i was just stating tsetts was in fact the only album with phil i have phils version in my favorites somewhere lol

  • Their best song!

  • this is so heavy, but i like the brian fair better

  • I agree. SF had big potential until Threads of Life. All the songs on that album were good, but it was just too influenced I think.

  • shut the fuck up

  • 3 doors down huh?

  • brian sings better

  • This shows Labonte has range and as far as comparing Phil to Brian the sing two different styles with Labonte bein better overall due to his range and ability to scream and yet still have a good singing voice

  • wow. the dude with dreds does better vocals

  • Phil Labonte > Brian Fair

  • at least on this song; after all it is his song. 2 different styles of music though

  • Nah, Brian's better w/ SF than Phil. Phil's such a powerhouse that he overwhelmed Jon and Matt.

  • the opening riff sounds exactly like "aesthetics of hate" by machine head

  • Great song, one of their best

  • awsome dude, i dunno how old this is, but it's awsome

  • Released in 2000.

  • more like 1997

  • No, Of One Blood is from 2000. The first version, w/ Phil Labonte on vocals, is from 97's "Somber Eyes to the Sky".

  • ummm yes i know, but technically it was released by Phil in 97 and that's y i say that. and idk y shadows got rid of phil. he rocks. but at least his in a new band.

  • I dont know if they got rid of them. i think he wanted to join all that remains. and brian just happened to be friends with the whole SF and stepped. my theory though. inside the Of One Blood albume it says Phil helped out with lyrics. To Ashes, he helped with.

  • yeah, they did get rid of him =(. Phil says so in ATR's DVD of them live. In a bonus feature they ask him why he left, and he replys something along the lings of They just decided to drop me one day and so just walked away and started a new band and he goes on about how he kept trying to get their now rhythm guitarist to play for them but he wouldn't for awhile.

  • No they did get rid of him... according to what Phil says. =( In ATR's live DVD they ask him why he left SF and he said that they just decided to drop him and so he just left and started a new band, and then Phil goes into how he tried to get their no rhythm guitarist to play for ATR for a long time and wouldn't for awhile.

  • well that clears things up. kind of a untold story.

  • Phil left becuase he wanted to try something new, it's all about creative differences, Matt Bachand and Phil Labonte are good friends, both of these guys love Brutal Death Metal, both of them have been alot of Death Metal before Shadows Fall, both Matt and Phil want to try something new.

  • Yeah, and honestly I like SF better w/ Brian, cause he's exactly powerful enough that he doesn't overwhelm the guitars. That's a problem they had w/ Phil(he sort of overwhelmed the guitars with his maniacal vocals).

  • Not necissarily BeastOfMetal1989, when they recorded Somber Eyes To The Sky back in 1997, they recorded in self-produced label called Lifeless record which was Matt Bachand's label. The production wasn't that good that's why. But the remastered version recorded in century media which is alot better production.

  • I'm actually completely ignoring the production values. Really, the original was not that bad sounding to me production-wise. I've listened to both on here, and Phil definitely overpowers Matt and Jon on both. I'm not saying "Somber Eyes" is bad (it's actually pretty good), I'm just saying that w/ Brian, they have a much better balance between vocals and guitar.

  • Yeah, but that's because Phil is such as beast. My favorite Metal vocalist of all time, on a personal note. Anyways, your right, they do have a better balance with Brian because at the time that "Somber Eyes" was recorded Phil didn't have much else in his repertoire than screaming.

  • Somber eyes was amazing. But you're right, matt and jons thrash guitar playing is so well fit togther with Brians style. They are one of a kind.
