  • the only places people actually street race in japan is the wangan freeway and the mountains.

and maybe.. maybe...... some country side areas.

  • You cannot fucking race anything :D :D

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha lmao everyone knows nothing turns to be like movies.

  • HEY LOVE THE CHANNEL ITS VERY INFORMATIVE AND ENTERTAINING SUBSCRIBING RIGHT..... NOW!

    -VICEV3RSA-[PANDA]-

  • A movie is just a movie..so obviously the stuff portrayed in Tokyo Drift shouldnt be taken very seriously..of course its only entertainment..however the drift/touge racing culture and street racing culture is actually very much practiced in Japan, maybe not a ton in Tokyo specifically, but in other areas in Japan. Some stuff in Tokyo Drift is somewhat *somewhat* based on some aspects of street racing activities and motorsport activities in Japan.

  • Great video!!! What is your view on how Japan is not like anime or manga?

  • Great video as always Zep.

  • Have you ever considered stop smoking ? I don't mean to be intrusive or anything, no offense meant. Please just ignore my question if you don't feel like answering it. Thanks.

  • @TheDuuude63 sure, but then I remember how awesome smoking is! ;D

  • This was really interesting. I'd like to know that whole other story about Japan not being like anime at all though, if you have the time could you please make a video on that? I'd really like to hear what you have to say on that matter! (:

  • When i was in Tokyo i used to rest in a hotel near shibuya and a day (4 am) i saw 3 cars running really fast and drifting in the crossroads in front of me and running away.

there wasn't much ppl and traffic light was green.. (i made a picture of tier burns on the street)

The day after i pray a friend that use to race with cars and he brought me outside tokyo to see that there is really ppl drifting in mountain streets

    So exiting

(i did not see any gaijin except me)

  • lol I heard some (or all?) of those action car scenes were filmed in chicago and then just had some photoshop/graphic design "tweaking" done to them to look like they were filmed in Japan.... that's just what I heard ^^

  • Thanks so muck for the shout out zeplin. Im glad to see a new vid from you. I really hope to be able to make a new video soon from the band to make your shout out worth wild. Keeep it METAL>

  • @Sevenstringmachine no worries man, sorry it took so long!

  • I'd like to request that when you go to Japan that you do a video on life in Tokyo/Japan from the actual time of the natural disasters to now. I've heard a lot of things and I am wondering just how much of it is bullsh*t.

  • I don't see how people think they could race in Tokyo. I've been there, people drive crazily and there is absolutely no room to race unless its at 3 in the morning, and thats only in some places.

  • Speaking of Tokyo Drift, I'm getting a Supra imported from Japan.

  • whats wrong with the clubs, u only ever see 1 or 2 and they seem fine?

  • whats wrong with yahoo answers?

  • I think that was a good way to put it. They put American character types in Japan. not gonna work

  • tokyo drift is one of my favourite movies but ofc its obvious tokyo and the people are not like that. but hey: for an amercian movie i thought its cool that they actually used japanese actors and not chinese or whatever...ok sung kang is korean XD but i was happy when i recognized keiko kitagawa since i knew her from some doramas ^^

  • what camera do you use?

  • @kinglynx Canon 550D

  • yeah, it's more like big man japan.

  • Just curious! What do you do for a living?

  • @1godlessmonkey I'm taking my MA in Visual Communication at the Royal Danish Art Academy, I do some freelance jobs now and then, and sell tutorials and files online.

  • @TokyoZeplin i thought you were in a band sorta thing ?O

  • @kinglynx nope!

  • nice video. keep the beard, and have a nice day

  • So... what you're saying is that Tokyo is EXACTLY like Tokyo Drift? Gotcha.

  • @Bippledot Exactly. Good girl! ;D

  • Yeah, overall Japanese people don't speak English very well, more like Engrish. But if your a high up Yakuza, it kind of makes sense if you speak English well. Because Yakuza even though they are a gang (and I'm sure you probably know this) they work their way through--through business. English is an internatinal buisness language. If you want to any kind of international buisness at all it is good to know English. And I'm pretty sure, even if they are a gang some of the bosses know English.

  • @EKUNUMA I know companies that deal specifically with foreigners (renting apartments to foreigners specifically), who speak almost no English :P Don't underestimate how low it goes! Haha! But I won't deny that there isn't an English speaking Yakuza dude somewhere.

  • 3 week vacation in August?

Dude, you're like copying my vacation 4 years ago, that should be forbidden!

But seriously, i hope you have a lot of fun there.

Are you going to go to Comiket, like i did on my vacation in Japan?

Anyway, i don't know what Tokyo Drift is like, but i was in Tokyo and i suppose Tokyo is a pretty relaxed place where people at least have outward decency nearly all the time thanks to the honne & tatemae dicotomy in Japanese society.

  • Those comments comparing tokio to the movie .. Well that were made by some kids and Im quite sure about that .. The same is about most of the movies made about Europe or european history. Like I see american people talking about europes history . For example spartans like that happened as told in the movie 300 .Thats is totaly bulshit . Yet some people think that was true just like in the movie.

  • @ClaudiaNihon I am, and same to you!

  • I agree with transformers hahaha yea America otherwise i dont know why i am watching hahaha good one tho

  • Lmao the Diehard 4 comparison was golden.

  • Weren't the majority of the actors who had any significant screen time not even Japanese to begin with. The majority of the "Japanese" roles were played by people of Korean or Chinese descent etc. A lot like Memoirs of a Geisha was.

  • Like watching Indiana Jones and saying, wow, being an archaeologist or university professor must be a really exciting job.

  • I agree with airsoft4ever u should put some footage of what japan is really like. I could be just walking down the street or a mall. Also it seems japanese are depicted as strict and workaholics, is this true and what does the typical japanese person do for fun. thanks :)

  • Don't worry about the length zeplin, your lengthy videos are good for listening in the background ;D

  • I stopped watching films like that a few years ago, Hollywood films are 100% over-dramatised now that it's not even enjoyable to watch anymore. Everything from the cheesy dialogue, characters and their stereotypical archetypes and perfect settings and scenarios are too predictable. It's shocking that these superficial movies are forming peoples opinions on culture and life in general, esp. young kids that are impressionable.

  • "What a load of bollocks" haha classic zeplin :D We need some club videos when you hit up tokyo dude :D

  • @airsoft4ever they generally aren't too happy about recording in clubs (I'm guessing there's to many pervy dudes that would do that?), especially in the big ones like Lancelot or Asia. And I wouldn't bring my 550D into a club anyway! But I'll try to catch some footage if I hang out anywhere a bit more "normal".

  • @TokyoZeplin Ah yeh, good point man I didn't think of that. I am sure those videos will be excellent aswell. See you on blog.tv soon mate.

  • @TokyoZeplin but I haven't you can give me a tour. Lol

  • the extras on the dvd are amusing too see the japanese public react to them going on the train etc.. its funny and yes diffrent to the movie XD

  • @DIGITALANNE oooh, wonder if that's on YouTube somewhere...

  • Phil love the vids. Let's go to Tokyo man.

  • @MegaDavetastic Already been, and already going again :P

  • The main chick was Filipina, the dude beats a drifter in a mustang....really?!? Yeah, it's totally realistic. >__>

  • The biggest lie in American movie is the self-censorship of the depiction of even slightly fat people - unless it specifically fits the role, usually almost everybody is thin. It is indeed mostly like this in Europe, however I've been to the US for a week - there were many more fat people.

  • @yuriythebest Well, a bit over 20% of Americans are outright obese, so literally every 1 in 5 people you see will be a "fatty" by European (as well as international, really) standards. But it's true, yeah, you pretty much never see that in movies.

  • It's good to see that you are alive xD I hope to see more movies and this one was very good because tooooo many people ask me this question and I am like :Are you crazy? NO! " xD Thanks and have fun in Tokyo!

  • @Standard420247 Tuborg. Beer.

  • @Standard420247 no need to remove your comment XD

  • @TokyoZeplin I realized I typo'd, I paused at the start to try and see what the drink was called and all i saw was what looked like "turbo", realized I typed to quickly, I was going to fix it but got side tracked XD

  • @TokyoZeplin Man, ain't your head sweating sporting a winter cap in the middle of July? >.>

  • @Standard420247 Welcome to the Danish Summer :P

  • @TokyoZeplin You need to help figure out wtf is wrong with blogtv, I missed your last chat time because the video doesn't want to boot up. No voice or image, the TV spot is just blank.. yet I can chat in the comment section.... WTF?!!!

  • I believe most of the characters in tokyo drift weren't even japanese most of them were korean actors

  • I can remix your video :O?! Nice. XD

  • @yamilayamilayamila YouTube allows to click "CreativeCommons License" now, which means you can use it as long as you give credit, and you don't make money off it. And I've pro-CC for along time =^_^=

  • nice seeing you again ^ ^

  • Geeez the very same day i start in school again and your going to Japan :/ the world aint fair.

  • @BlackBerserkgasme if it makes you feel better, my summer holidays most likely started a month later than yours :)

  • the gurl is australian

  • Also, for epic lols, turn on the automatic subtitles (CC). Fun stuff!

  • missed your videos man

  • but tokyo drift is epic...

  • its funny how people will watch a movie and a television show and think a whole country is similiar too it. i have family in england and visited them and man so many people compare england to a james bond movie its not funny

  • Way to smash my hopes and dreams into little gaijin pieces, just kidding haha.

Also I hate that I missed your last live thing(forget the name, i only ever go there via the link you leave in your youtube vid description). this is BlizzBlaze btw

  • Also Phil I would like to add that the movie wasn't filmed in Tokyo it was filmed in "Little Tokyo", which is the American version of Chinatown for Japan. It's in California. That is another reason why this movie was so retarded in that aspect.

  • @AgentSpiral well part of it was most definitely filmed in Tokyo, since for instance there is a scene driving through Shibuya Crossing, and I certainly recognized some of the typical signs I see around Shibuya and Shinjuku. But wouldn't be surprised if many parts of it wasn't.

  • @TokyoZeplin I think Shibuya Crossing was the ONLY part, I heard they couldn't get in because it was an ignorant movie and there wasn't enough set for "larger drifting scenes". Also as far the signs go, Little Tokyo does indeed have these signs, as it's made to look like Tokyo(and a lot of Japanese people live there for family). I've only been to Chinatown though so I'm not sure on this, but I think Little Tokyo also has direct recreations of Japan as a whole. So signs, landmarks etc..

  • @AgentSpiral no I mean like... there are a few scenes where I'm like... I KNOW that place! :P But as I said, I sounds very plausible that most of the movie was filmed elsewhere. But then again, who am I to say if they didn't take a look at some streets in Tokyo, and then basically modelled up some streets in Little Tokyo to look like them :S

  • The people saying tokyo is like that are probably the same people who say we have Lions, Tigers, Rhino, Elephants etc roaming in our backyard down here in South Africa

  • @ShaolinFist45 You don't have Lions, Tigers, Rhinos and Elephants in your back yard?! Blasphemy!

  • you make me wanna start smoking again ,, i couldn`t watch this ,, :(

  • @dadapopa You know you want to... oh the nicotine... oh the cancer! The yellow nails and teeth! The bad breath! The stinky clothes! You yeeaarrrnnn for it!

  • @TokyoZeplin i realy realy do :D (kinda made my day by re on my comment :P )

  • @dadapopa stay strong man! ;D Sadly I have a pact with my dad... if he quits (which he really has to, soon, due to health risks), I quit too. Sadly, he's planning to quit in a few months, or less (just getting over a workload). I gotta smoke while I can! XD

  • Just checked out the movie trailer for [ Lost in translation ] and I'm gonna go *cough* buy the movie online.. :D

Helllloooo Zeplin :D it's been too long

  • Now, I have to go and watch Tokyo Drift. Never seen it either.

  • I laugh at this movie. The only part I like is the drifting. Also all the English speaking Japanese in that movie are so old and they are too old to play high school students.

  • @CrimsonEclipse lol yeah, everyone is a highschool student, but obviously in their 20's xD

  • @TokyoZeplin I think they were in their 30's because I saw wrinkles. LOL

  • So tokyo isn't like in gojira either?

  • @piip4 no no, Godzilla is totally true man. He drops by every now and then. True story.

  • Good video. I'm going to check out Lost in Translation soon. I've heard that it's a blatantly racist movie though. Any truth to that?

  • @StabWoundOrgasm I didn't think it was that racist, it was the arrogance of the main characters (like not speaking Japanese, thinking the traditions were weird etc) which was kind of annoying

  • @StabWoundOrgasm Lost in Translation is... racist? o0 I certainly never thought so. Of course there are clichés, and of course it's overdone on the "foreignness", but contrary to Tokyo Drift the characters in Lost in Translation are at least clichés of character types you actually find in Tokyo :S

  • PS Tardie, watch your "anyway" count!(or is it on purpose?=D)

Interesting video as always! Lovely quality. :)

  • Finally man been waiting for some more videos!

  • cheers =D

  • Second? XD

Nice video and educative for some people....

  • FIRST! Mwuahaha, eat me mofos!
