How to install Windows 2000 on Eee PC

I have a much older notebook computer (Intel Pentium !!! Mobile 650MHz) that's sadly stuck on windows 2000 due to performance issues with XP and Server 2003. : ( Anyways, has anyone tried a kernel and dll transplant?

You can install dos 7.10 with support for the drives, and then install windows 2000.

true, but to install the drivers you need SP4 first, so that's why i use the offline install package

well their is a little performance advantage but not much, but the HDD space will be the same after the SP4 install and the drivers

but i thought it would be fun so i gave it a shot

@Joseph9536 Windows 2000 is the most stable OS created :) Windows XP i find too it awesome

Windows 2000 just need 200 MHz, 64 Mo of RAM

So just why i say that Windows 2000 is really good for a EeePC :)

I tried this... EEE Win 2000 is fast alright, but you can't install Office 2007. Therefore I switched to a Nlite version of XP. It's allså very fast.

@an65001 Exactly, I will probably get it for my eee pc too. But not on my new computer :( core i5 isn't compatible with win 2000 :(

@thegoodhen Dont say that, Windows 2000 runs on even a Core i7! Search Windows 2000 on a Core i7 on youtube.

@an65001 I have i5 now. It would bring some issues, that's for sure, I want to use full potential of my hw. But anyways, win2000 is the best windows OS ever! (But 7 is a decent sequel!)

but TBH xp is the same thing as xp

xp is just a spin off of nt5 as so is 2k

You can install Open Office or Office 2003 ;) but Win2k is better than XP .
