@FreeAmericaRP2012 don't judge based on one guy. He has some good things to say, that's all. It's a good doc. Anyway, the movie is interesting from a philosophical point of view. It asks and attempts to answer 2 basic questions: what is a corp? Answer: a legal person (next question is led from the answer of original question) - ok, then what type of person is it? check it out.
WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR LET HIM HEAR! The ultimate goal of globalization (democracy) is to lead all nations in war against Christ in the valley of Megiddo (Armageddon) - Rev.16:14; 17:13-14.
As I peeled back the wrapper from my Junior Whopper and sunk my teeth into the tender and juicy burger, my girlfriend continued to ramble on about politics uttering, "big business is taking over the world and polluting our planet!" Using my napkin to clean my mouth, savoring a final morsel of tasty meat before swallowing making way for yet another delicious bite, I opined, "yeah, well, what do you want me to do about it?" It was so quiet you could nearly hear the cows screaming.
Another major reason behind organic food costing more than intensively-farmed food is that agrochemicals are actually designed to make food cheaper to produce. Bare in mind, agrochemicals were not developed with ecology, nutrition, or taste. The chemical designers’ remit was to make mass production of food cheaper. End of story. Money is the issue here, and the motive. So you end up with a cheaper, but inferior product.
The interesting thing about organic foods is that it contains less chemicals and yet, generally costs more than intensively-farmed food. But there are a couple of reasons. One big reason is that farmed foods are cheaper to buy in the shops, since you, as a tax payer, are paying for them in your tax dollars. Agrochemical agriculture is increasingly subsidized by the taxpayer through the government, whereas organically produced foods receives no subsidies whatsoever. Cont....

@luvcheney1 Alot of the major corporations that are around today are evil as shit. I don't know how you can consider them people.. They arent really people they're just machines trying to make the most profit by any means..
@animelegacy A corporation is a legal entity. The entity is owned by people, run by people, to serve people. Lets discuss the "evil" of the worst corporation, in your opinion.
@luvcheney1 Well first lets start off with Monsanto.. with their terminator seed along with their pesticides and their gmos. Also we can look at how they paid off the news corporations to not tell about Posilac... a hormone injected in cows. Lets also look at the news media.. all meant to serve us? More like to hide us from many secrets. The media covers what they want to cover. Lets also look at the food industry.. all those artificial flavors, HFCS, and the MEAT factories. I cant fit the rest
@animelegacy Monsanto, great choice! They make products that increase food yields. Increased food production increases supply, and that helps keep food costs lower, than if yields were not so high. There actually are people on earth who are hungry. Cheaper food helps them afford to eat. Since you hate Monsanto, by definition you want less food produced. You want people to starve. You suck. Monsanto rocks.
@luvcheney1 You're such a fucking idiot. First of all you forgot to talk about the other 99% of what I said, and secondly, you're talking about producing food for everyone, but look what the food is doing to us its making us fat. Its giving us cancer, birth defects? Better food can be produced, but who cares?! Profits are so great!
@animelegacy I am not going to spend MY TIME debating 8 topics you make baseless charges over. I picked you FIRST one, of a MEGA CORP. Why do you want LESS FOOD?
@luvcheney1 I told you you dumb twat. Can you fucking read? Do you have eyes?
I said the shitty fucking food their producing is harming us not helping us. It's giving us cancer, birth defects, its getting us fat and extremely unhealthy.
@animelegacy Go buy the organic crap then. You have the choice. If you can afford to pay more, and you think it is worth it, I have no objection. However, if others have a little trouble making ends meet, or are starving, do you mind if we have a choice? Organic foods will grow in market share, if enough people feel as you do. Life expectancy in the US has gone from about 50 to about 77yrs of age in the last 100 yrs. "getting us unhealthy"? By living longer?
@luvcheney1 Not everyone can afford the "organic crap". These food corporations can loose a mil or two to make the American people healthier.. They obviously don't give a shit about us.. That expectancy increase is only because of modern medicine, because if you look at hispanics and blacks their life expectancy is so much less.

Interesting to be controled by a Corporate Capitalist Ingrate. - Shock&Awe.Kulprits...................who agrees?
Just saw the film...A must see. As consumers we have the choice to support corporations who uphold honest and transparent business practices. We have a choice and a collective voice.
My point is that we can all look at the former Soviet Union and see clearly the inherent economic flaws of that system. However, after Enron, WorldCom, Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac, we still fail to see that our system may have its own inherent flaws. Blind pursuit of the bottom line has created a healthcare industry which is rewarded for not healing us, a bank industry which is rewarded for bad mortgages and a Wall Street which takes bets against our ability to pay debt. Something is wrong here.
@alek1138 The closest thing I have to personal experience with Communism would be the direct testimonials of my friends and family friends in the Russian and Cuban immigrant communities in my city. They are proud of their heritage but will tell you without hesitation of the disastrous results that Communism had on their homelands. My family comes from a neighborhood where other Cuban families have become like family to us. One of my best friends is a Russian immigrant. Their stories tell it all.
"Some measure of responsibility" is a statement that betrays the complete lack of understanding corporations have of their situation. "Those who ignore nature are condemned to deplete it" is a statement of finality. Fade to noise...
Just saw this film. Very disturbing. I never realized that the profit incentive can be flawed on both sides of the spectrum. In Communism, it is flawed because people are not rewarded for hard work. On the other end, our system is flawed because profits are never enough. When a company reaches its absolute peak in sales or revenues, it's not cause for celebration. How do you continue to increase profit next quarter? Time to lay off employees, cut quality, outsource, etc. An unsustainable system.
There are alternatives to taking all these drugs with the increasingly worse side effects. Doctors and the drug companies are either too blind to see what's going on or the drug companies have doctors in their back pockets. Or both. It's no coincidence at all that side effects for these dumb drugs just keep getting worse. Side effects may include nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea, gonorrheah, ball sagging, boob sagging, and death. Why people put up with these damn drugs we'll never know.
Corporations can get away with just about anything as long as they've got enough bribe money. That's why I love the idea of taxing the rich more. Less bribe money plus it makes them less happy. You have to hate these big, worthless corporations that are screwing up America and the world. The drug companies sure don't make our lives better. Doctors keep broadening the definition for autism, ADD, ADHD, and every other thing that either think of or make up just so they can sell more drugs.
@jxsilicon9 They could undercut any merchant starting from scratch, but I believe if a person with already existing wealth took it into his hands to better the world of economy. All he would have to do is run a few ads on tv telling you about the people he is supporting with honest fair wages around the world and show that he has existing prices, then everyone would start shopping there. Although big name stores have such a large profit margin they rarely sell things cheaper then other places.
@jxsilicon9 If they wanted to drive their price down to run him out I am sure they could. At a certain point it would depend on people to make the wise choice. Eventually you could make cheaper purchases at the honest merchant then you could at big names because he would be making so much business he would have a near monopoly on honesty, because nobody else sells that. All it would take is one person of existing wealth to do this and a bunch of other merchants would copy. One day I hope I can.
@simontimon2 no shit, it's like these retards haven't read about what life was life for humans for the last 5-6000 years before the capitalist market system. Where 90% of the population were born poor and you died poor. You worked the fields from dawn to dusk. But no, lets go back to serfdom. We live in an age where individuals consume more in 1 day then an individual by themselves could produce in 10 centuries.
@SleepingSun1985 all ten planks of the communist manifesto have been installed in America. You can find this out pretty easily using a simple Google search. Central banking is 90% communism. We have no property rights because no one owns allodial title anymore. When a bank loans someone money, the borrower has to put up collateral. The Fed was allowed to place a lien against EVERYTHING in this country, including every human being!!!
This was the worst documentary I've ever seen. It has a lot to say (overly long) but very little facts or statistics and refused to acknowledge the benefits corporations have given us. Example- youtube, owned by google.
The fact of the matter- a corporation is just a collection of people using mutual trade to achieve it's objectives. Mutual trade, meaning without force where both parties are benefactors.
Apart from raising some decent arguments on pollution this documentary is a waste of time
@FlamingTide clearly you have missed the point. Corporations are a creation of the state, not of the free market. It's odd how capitalists who bitch about the evils of government so much turn the other cheek when governments allow businesses to exist with the protected status of limited liability.
@axltyler USSR was Communist system,it's not even close to Socialism. Now Russia is kinda Capitalism(or you can it's Corporatism). What's Socialism?Look at Scandinavia.
@axltyler That's one reason why America fucked up like this.People lack of common sense about the outside world and they don't bother to LEARN or research.Which made them turn into rednecks.
So the previous generation fought against Socialism, and Socialists wanted to destroy the Capitalists. Now if the USSR had won, I'm sure those of us against their ideologies and such would fight tooth and nail to defeat it if not at least regulate it more because any monster that gets big enough can get out of control. Well, the Capitalists won, and now is anyone stopping to think that maybe, just maybe, it is getting a bit out of hand? That it needs to be reigned in a bit?
Why do you hippies posses such a profound fear of bar codes? Bar codes are designed to simplify processing of products in a large industrial environment. You people are just being counter-productive. This is the world of six billion people. You can no longer sustain a high-tech science-packed world economy by running "pop-n-mom" stores. A corporate form of businesses is just inevitable. You indirectly support corporations on daily basis without even realizing it.
on a personal level what should we do? corporations are so interwoven into the fabric of modern life, it is hard to know who you are supporting...firsthand, or secondhand. But the more I probe into the truth of western civilization/capitalism, the harder it is to walk around with a clean conscience. It's easy to say you care when the topic arises, but to take a moral standing against this requires a lot more
@HiddenFormula It is hard but the more you look into the corporate system the more we see the lack of civility, or compassion for anything other than making a profit. On a personal level you can spread the word to your friends and family. On a larger level it might be time to really give a serious look at democratic socialism.
Corporate system has lack of civility or compassion? Are you serious?! A business entity is far more ethical than any government because a businessman has to EARN money, while the government can simply CONFISCATE your money through taxation and regulations.
@alisher1984 Sure the govt. can tax you; you get no argument from me there however we can vote them in and out. As for corporations... do you mean to tell me that tobacco corporations have behaved compassionately? Guns? Alcohol? Drug companies that charge outrageous money to sick and dying people for prescriptions. Oil companies ruining the environment in which we live? Brother you need to look into how much companies pay out in fines and lawsuits each year and still post grotesque profits.
@agentsback Again you are right on alcohol and tobacco, yet they spend hundreds of millions or billions to advertise and influence people. On the other hand people do need medication, and health care and historically been ripped off on both. Or how about the privatization of utilities such as water? The abuses are across the board and despite what you may think people are not just able to extricate themselves from the capitalist system.
@jwcooper52 Believe me 90% of us do not have any compassion for people we dont know and rest 10% do some sort of charity. Also 99% of us are running behind the money. Corporates are not aliens, they are very much people among us. If at all you have blame the underlying human behavior here.
@agentsback You are correct, corporations are made up of people we live with. But just as we cannot blame the individual at the top we cannot blame the one at the bottom, because: "they are just doing their jobs." Yet crimes against the environment and humanity continue. So the question remains: who is to be blamed? My answer to that is that these crimes are the byproduct of the capitalist system.
@jwcooper52 Says the guy whose carbon output is FIVE TIMES the world average, but yeah, sit around and whine about pollution and environmentalism you sad cunt.
@agentsback Uh, who the fuck are you to whine about this shit? You live in the west and are one of the 10% of richest people on the planet and you have the nerve to sit on your computer and whine about the poor? You dumb fuck.
@redlinetri lol.. we are rich thats it? Have you ever wondered what made us rich? Have you ever wondered why all the african countries are 3rd world? You need to think a little deeper.
@agentsback Yeah, because Africans were just thriving before capitalism showed up right you moron? Jesus, get a fucking clue! Africa never achieved anything of worth with or without capitalism.
@redlinetri Thats my point u asswipe! Africa never achieved anything with or without capitalism. Help urself with a fuckin book cuz u r talking like a fuckin retard!
This mkovie, is amazing, but it is very scary and life changing, it will change your aspect on everything in the world, i highly recomend it, i wish the president could see it.....
@TheRedRoseBlack you think he doesn't know about the atrocities that corporations commit? of course he knows. but he can't do much about it since he actually has less power in the U.S. than all of the corporations and the elected officials who ran their campaigns on corporate money (including obama. one of his top contributors was jp morgan chase)
To make things even scarier, yesterday the supreme court lifted caps on campaign contributions, so now corporations can spend all they want to "buy" politicians, everyone makes money , and who pays? we do !
@MonicaFlux Hardly, yes there is a segment where they show, how wal-mart has expressed interest in organic products, ( because people are starting to show an interest ) which is why they put that in the movie, but that whole segment is just a fraction of the documentary. a segment on how some organic activist are using standard marketing to move their products. its relevant, after all, almost everyone has a Wall-mart near by, but not everyone has a Publix, or a Safeway.
@gilgamesh1962 you should definetely check out the documentary " The War On Kids" - schools built by prison contractors, paid judges sending children to detention camps, everyday more and more schools built, Built to be used as prisons in the near future.
@dontgetsmoked I agree, but schools now days seem to be more about conditioning kids, ( programing them ) in other words, teaching them what to think, and not so much about how to think for themselves, public schools are serving named brand products and un-healthy foods, to get them into that habit early on.
one thing that just makes me ticked is how the pharmcos pay commissions to schools , to push their drugs like Ritalin on kids. that's just criminal .
A corporation is a state institution, it is a business with state protection, they could not exist without the state to define and enforce their existence.
In the absence of the state a business can only survive on it's ability to produce and trade value, voluntarily, with individuals in society. It's size and function are directly relative to the needs of people.
So the problem is not lack of rules and regulations, the problem is the violent state monopoly/cartel system.
This doesn't mention that the companies have their fingers in the pies of the government.. I think what we are seeing a complete skewing of politics as we know it.. It doesn't represent the people, the government and the companies have become one in the same. So who are you against?
@Jcolinsol The problem is not the monopoly/cartel system the problem is ignorance and disregard on behalf of the people. People have known for some time now that these shoe companies supported the work of young children for dirt to create products and yet we still buy them...The problem is that over in other countries they must fight to survive while other countries exist in sub-meaningless consumer driven lives. If the general public really cared and shared the entire world would be fine.

Fade to noise...
sfomikedean1 1 year ago

Teach your kids to only buy from respected merchants and the world will slowly change.
warriorbysword2 1 year ago
@warriorbysword2
Walmart and other big stores can buy up and undercut any moral merchants.
jxsilicon9 1 year ago
@jxsilicon9 They could undercut any merchant starting from scratch, but I believe if a person with already existing wealth took it into his hands to better the world of economy. All he would have to do is run a few ads on tv telling you about the people he is supporting with honest fair wages around the world and show that he has existing prices, then everyone would start shopping there. Although big name stores have such a large profit margin they rarely sell things cheaper then other places.
warriorbysword2 1 year ago
@jxsilicon9 If they wanted to drive their price down to run him out I am sure they could. At a certain point it would depend on people to make the wise choice. Eventually you could make cheaper purchases at the honest merchant then you could at big names because he would be making so much business he would have a near monopoly on honesty, because nobody else sells that. All it would take is one person of existing wealth to do this and a bunch of other merchants would copy. One day I hope I can.

@SleepingSun1985 yes, indeed. Read about it in the book written by Eustace Mullins.

@axltyler And FED is a Privately-owned central bank. So US is a Communist country, according to you.
SleepingSun1985 1 year ago

Apart from raising some decent arguments on pollution this documentary is a waste of time
FlamingTide 1 year ago
@FlamingTide clearly you have missed the point. Corporations are a creation of the state, not of the free market. It's odd how capitalists who bitch about the evils of government so much turn the other cheek when governments allow businesses to exist with the protected status of limited liability.

Bar codes everywhere!
ParallaxFilm 1 year ago
@ParallaxFilm

It's easy to say you care when the topic arises, but to take a moral standing against this requires a lot more
HiddenFormula 1 year ago
@HiddenFormula It is hard but the more you look into the corporate system the more we see the lack of civility, or compassion for anything other than making a profit. On a personal level you can spread the word to your friends and family. On a larger level it might be time to really give a serious look at democratic socialism.
jwcooper52 1 year ago
@jwcooper52
Corporate system has lack of civility or compassion? Are you serious?! A business entity is far more ethical than any government because a businessman has to EARN money, while the government can simply CONFISCATE your money through taxation and regulations.
alisher1984 1 year ago
@alisher1984 Sure the govt. can tax you; you get no argument from me there however we can vote them in and out. As for corporations... do you mean to tell me that tobacco corporations have behaved compassionately? Guns? Alcohol? Drug companies that charge outrageous money to sick and dying people for prescriptions. Oil companies ruining the environment in which we live? Brother you need to look into how much companies pay out in fines and lawsuits each year and still post grotesque profits.
jwcooper52 1 year ago
@jwcooper52 Dude its not like they are forcing you to eat their tobacco or drink their alcohol. Just becuz they make it doesnt mean u have to buy it.
agentsback 1 year ago
@agentsback Again you are right on alcohol and tobacco, yet they spend hundreds of millions or billions to advertise and influence people. On the other hand people do need medication, and health care and historically been ripped off on both. Or how about the privatization of utilities such as water? The abuses are across the board and despite what you may think people are not just able to extricate themselves from the capitalist system.
jwcooper52 1 year ago
@jwcooper52 Believe me 90% of us do not have any compassion for people we dont know and rest 10% do some sort of charity. Also 99% of us are running behind the money. Corporates are not aliens, they are very much people among us. If at all you have blame the underlying human behavior here.
agentsback 1 year ago
@agentsback You are correct, corporations are made up of people we live with. But just as we cannot blame the individual at the top we cannot blame the one at the bottom, because: "they are just doing their jobs." Yet crimes against the environment and humanity continue. So the question remains: who is to be blamed? My answer to that is that these crimes are the byproduct of the capitalist system.

MonicaFlux 1 year ago
@MonicaFlux Hardly, yes there is a segment where they show, how wal-mart has expressed interest in organic products, ( because people are starting to show an interest ) which is why they put that in the movie, but that whole segment is just a fraction of the documentary. a segment on how some organic activist are using standard marketing to move their products. its relevant, after all, almost everyone has a Wall-mart near by, but not everyone has a Publix, or a Safeway.
gilgamesh1962 1 year ago
@gilgamesh1962 you should definetely check out the documentary " The War On Kids" - schools built by prison contractors, paid judges sending children to detention camps, everyday more and more schools built, Built to be used as prisons in the near future.
dontgetsmoked 1 year ago
@dontgetsmoked I agree, but schools now days seem to be more about conditioning kids, ( programing them ) in other words, teaching them what to think, and not so much about how to think for themselves, public schools are serving named brand products and un-healthy foods, to get them into that habit early on.
one thing that just makes me ticked is how the pharmcos pay commissions to schools , to push their drugs like Ritalin on kids. that's just criminal .
gilgamesh1962 1 year ago
A corporation is a state institution, it is a business with state protection, they could not exist without the state to define and enforce their existence.
In the absence of the state a business can only survive on it's ability to produce and trade value, voluntarily, with individuals in society. It's size and function are directly relative to the needs of people.
So the problem is not lack of rules and regulations, the problem is the violent state monopoly/cartel system.
Jcolinsol 2 years ago 12
This doesn't mention that the companies have their fingers in the pies of the government.. I think what we are seeing a complete skewing of politics as we know it.. It doesn't represent the people, the government and the companies have become one in the same. So who are you against?
rofthorax 2 years ago 3
I am against institutionalizing anything, particularly provision of services, use of violence, and property rights.
Jcolinsol 2 years ago 3
@Jcolinsol The problem is not the monopoly/cartel system the problem is ignorance and disregard on behalf of the people. People have known for some time now that these shoe companies supported the work of young children for dirt to create products and yet we still buy them...The problem is that over in other countries they must fight to survive while other countries exist in sub-meaningless consumer driven lives. If the general public really cared and shared the entire world would be fine.
