  • Hai ca-i tare. Bravo!

  • How much is a good cobza?

  • You can find decent cobzas at Hora's website (hora . ro, without the two spaces) which cost 650 lei (around 200 Euro). However a good one, means one made by hand by a peasant in Romania which needs a certain amount of house to house searching in plenty of Romanian villages in order to find these people. Some of these cobzas (many of them being at least 20 years old) can cost up to 600 Euro.

  • Minunat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • multumesc

  • Cu placere

  • Potlalopsut, you're right. He is using it for a solo performance, even though the instrument is purely made for accompanying a solo instrument (such as a violin, a flute or a pan flute). However, between 00:54 - 01:11 he is playing it in a traditional style, to accompany his voice. Thumbs up for trying to revive the instrument (I am also a player of this archaic European lute)

  • If you want to hear what the traditional playing method is, then check out this video:

Ion Albesteanu, Marin Cotoanta - Hora lautareasca

  • Nice, but...

LOL, this is strange playing melodies on the cobza! The instrument is traditional, but the way he plays on it is totally off traditional.

  • well, what about Zlotea? He played melodies on cobza...as well as C. Negel (which played in a different manner, of course). I mean, how can you be so sure about tradition...?:-)

  • Ion Zlotea was the first who made a disc (in 1977) playing melodies, to show the potential of the instrument (feeling that it would definitely be lost in the next 30 years or so). He is the FIRST cobza player recorded to play melodies on it, and also from the 10 tracks on the electrecord disc, 7 were original compositions by Florea Cioaca (who also made ritornellas on the disc by means of a violin).

  • bravo Constantine! esti bun!!!ai talent!mult succes! tine-o tot asa!

  • hai oltenii<<<<<<<<<<<
