@Dachefmanney Because the jews are under the floors and they can't speak english. Hans does it for sake of ease, as his french isn't as good as his english.
@TheRandyChimp according to the movie they should speak german together cause his french isnt as good as his german but then english people would still have to read subs tahts why the film is a bit confusing, in fact his french is pretty well, he's continuing in german because the jews may not understand what he says from now on
The concept of the "rat"was taken from Mein Kampf by Hitler....he refers to the jews as rats and disease that must be irradicated....its simply sick...how hatred can lead to a holocaust......
@brandinator22 and this is so fucking sad...im glad and proud of germany that we regret our past and want to create and stabilize an united europe now.
@fr19fr95 He obviously was'nt expecting the Nazi's to show up, his daughter would of told the Jews to hide when she was sent inside the house. They would of been caught running to the forest as the Nazis would of seen them running when approaching the house
I think he got discovered when he named the people's ages. The german already knew their ages and just wanted to know how well he knew them, and if he was precise he must still be in contact with them; hiding them.
@fr19fr95 I personally think he already knew they were there from the minute he arrived. He used his ego and reputation as a Jew hunter get the better of Lapedite for sure but Tarantino just took the opportunity to develop Hans character on screen. I think if there was a moment for the "reveal" it would have been when he questioned his business in searching for Jews again, or when he pulled out his pipe.
This opnening scene is possibly one of the best film scenes ever, both men are fabulous. Imagine back then how calm a man hiding jews would have to be.
Tarentinos brilliant I love how he's not afraid to kill the heroes and let the villains go free.
@GeneralG1810 have to agree, I think this is one of the finest scenes in film, it hints at Tarentinos talent, if only the whole movie could have been as good, just didn't quite move me as this scene so totally engaged me.
@corcaighrebel True but that didnt stop it from being a bad film for me, loved the comic aspect. Not the WW2 was anything to laugh about but the fairytale idea of the film is just brilliant, but thats just IMO
Please uploader, let me embed this video. I need it for a Shakespeare project at googlewave for university when Shylock, the Jew, compares Christians to rats and thats because he hates them. This part of Bastard Inglorious is clearly a re-reading of Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice.
I am in dire need for you to let this video to be embedded because it is the best quality i have found. pls!!
Brad Pitt and most of the other actors and characters were sell-outs, Hans Landa here is what really made this movie outstanding XD
